Nan, you were a great woman! Thank you for raising me like your own son. Thank you for your unconditional love and kindness. Thank you for always making sure that we had a roof over our head, food on our table and clothes on our back. Thank you for calling me on my b.s. when I was in high school. Thank you for not holding that b.s. against me afterward. Thank you for picking up the slack that my father left hanging. Thank you for teaching me that if I wanted something, I had to work for it, for, as you said (and your voice still reverberates in my head to this day), The world doesnt owe anybody anything. Thank you for always being there to pick me up when I fell. Thank you for not writing me off when I gave you so many opportunities to do just that. Thank you for thinking of me, my brother and mother before you ever thought about yourself.
Nan, I am the man I am today because of you, no doubt. Youve taught me everything I know, and am glad that we had the time together that we did. If it werent for you, I wouldnt be where I am today. I miss you so much.
Happy 77th birthday, Nanny. Youll live in my heart forever!

Although they sound an awful lot alike, mine is a little older and was born in December. That was a great post.
