Happy Back To School Day

After 33 years in the classroom, I've been retired for 5 years now...but DW is back in her classroom as I type this. All us retired folks have an annual breakfast on the first day of school. It's our "To H*** With the Bell" annual breakfast.

I give teachers sooooooooooooooooooooo much credit and respect. They are some of the bestest humans ( along with nurses, firfirefighters, police and emts ) They do a job...that many can't do. We have been very blessed to know many wonderful, fantastic teachers over the years. I have only found 2 so far that really shouldn't be teaching. It takes a very special person to do their job. I loved working from home running my own daycare when my kids were little. The experiences that you get to see and help them learn are very rewarding. Kudos to alllll the teachers. While parents are taking amusing and posting pictures on social media...we don't see the pictures of the hard working teachers at the beginning or the tired butt dragging pictures at the end of the year. Teachers should be posting some of those pictures....and BOOOOO to those people who get butt hurt over teachers posting their excited the school year is ending pictures!!!!

Pumpkin1172, thanks for those kind works. I'll share them with all the teachers I know. :)

Here are a couple of my back-to-school favourites: :teeth:

So, it was the first day of school and Jonny was having issues and refused to go to school. "Why don't you want to go? his mom asked." "Well, the kids all pick on me and I can hardly ever get a word in- even when they lower themselves to talk to me. I think the teachers are all out to get me too, I'm sure they all hate me, and even the caretaker gives me dirty looks!" After thinking this over, his mom replied, "But Jonny, you're the principal, you have to go!"

Q: What's the difference between God and a principal? A: God doesn't think he's a principal.

I can say that. I was a principal.

For the first time in 23 years I am not doing back to school today. It feels really strange. We moved our youngest to university on Saturday but she came back home because classes don't start until Thursday.
It is the first time for us in 25 years, the oldest is on her own working, the second stayed working at her university and the youngest is taking a gap year and working. That being said the DW came home from shopping with some backpacks and lunch bags? I mentioned to her " you know we have no kids going to school " she replied that she was donating them. I think someone is getting early empty nest syndrome!
