I haven't posted in a long time. I have lurked a bit, but I need to get back to regular posting.

Happy stuff....
I have made a few changes, and I feel like I am finally ready to make lasting changes to improve my health. I signed a contract with myself today, and am very commited to it.

I have decided to go back to school and become a teacher. I am very excited about it, BUT...

Sad stuff......
Because of that decision, money will be very tight, and that is why I had to pull out of the marathon. I am very sad about this. I just checked out the website and wish I was going. It was a goal I set for myself and I feel like I dissapointed not only myself, but my fellow wishers as well as my family, (especially my DS who was going to be my "coach"). We don't have the $ to go back to WDW.

Someday I want to reach this goal, but for now my education as well as eventually buying a home will have to be our priorities.

Thanks for letting me vent. I have wanted to write this for a while, but I wasn't completely commited to my health yet, but I made a fresh start today, so I wanted to get this of my chest.

Princess Vija, welcome back!! :wave2:

I've been missing you around here - glad to hear you're going to be posting more.

Also I'm so happy you've decided to follow your heart and become a teacher! It will mean some sacrifice now but I believe you'll find it was worth it in the end.

It's a shame that we won't see you for the half-marathon at Disney, but aren't there any local races you could train for? I bet DS would still love to coach you! Even if it's a short 5K (about 3 miles) race, you'd be working toward a goal and have a good reason to exercise. We'll celebrate your success, even if we can't be there in person to cheer you on!

Best of luck with your studies and with your committment to healthy living!! :sunny:

Vija,
You did not let any of us down! We all understand that life deals each of us different things.....no worries
I am so proud of you for signing the contract.....and I know you can do it!::yes::
Now, when we start planning the 2006 marathon...I know you will be there!!!

This is AWESOME news!!!

I really think this is what you were meant to do. I know it's what you've wanted, and I'm so very happy you've found the strength to make it happen!

I know this means lots of financial sacrifices and that classes won't be easy... but for a labor of love, I know you'll find a way to make it work. Yay- no more working all weekend in a thankless job for my Vija!

Sweetie, you have let no one down! On the contrary, you are doing a great thing for you, your family, and your future students!

The marathon thing? That's just a minor scheduling glitch. There will be other marathons and other WISH meets down the road.

I am so PROUD of you, kiddo!!!

Kamy, that does sound wonderful! 2006!!! I hope we are close to buying a home then. Do you think there will be an organized group going then? I will be done with school then, (it is an accelerated program!). That would be a great treat for graduating!

If 2005 goes well, I am sure many of us will want to do it again! :)
Good luck with everythng Vija and keep me posted on your progress in school and such! I am very proud of you!::yes::

DoeWDW,
Thanks for the encouraging words. I am going to ask DS to "coach" me this summer for a marathon in the future. You inspired me to keep "in training". I work weekends, so doing a race isn't an option right now, but I can in the future!

KathyTX,
You always know just what to say!!!! Thanks for your encouraging words, and being super supportive on changing careers. I went in to parent volunteer today, and I got so excited!!! I know this is what I want and it feels so good to know it! It just feels "right"! And you are so right.... no more weekends!!!! My family will certainly benefit from that.

Kamy,
I know that the marathon is going to go super well for all of you! You have done so much already to make is a success, I have no doubt at all that it will be wonderful. Sooooo..... I am awaiting the news for 2006!!!!:D

YIPPPPEEEEE!!!!!!! Vija's back!!!

Missed ya! So very very glad to see you around WISH again!!!

I'm very proud of you. Life decisions are so hard at times. I KNOW this is the time for you and your contract with yourself! We are here for you Vija, you are my friend -- you'll never ever not be a part of our WISH family.

Wow! A teacher! I admire teachers! I don't have the patience for other people's children ;)

Are you following WW still? I actually thought of you recently (of the many many times I have thought of you!) and missed your WW weekly challenges. We need those again!!! I'll help come up with some if you'll start us back again! Maybe we could juggle between some based on our WISH way of eating/exercising and some to pamper ourselves! I LOVED that challenge!!

ps - did you cruise on 12/3 - the 3 day that had terrible waves?? I read that and thought of you (again) and hoped not!!

I promise not to stalk you anymore in my thoughts since you are back!!:goodvibes

:sunny:

I'm planning on getting AP's when we go next January [2005] which should take us through 01/09/06 or so. We will be planning another trip for Christmas 2005 - 01/09/06 --- so the 2006 1/2 Marathon just 'might' be do-able for me again! Now, I just have to see if I can make it thru the 2005 one first!

Vija, congratulations on the career decision. Teaching is exhausting-emotionally and physically- but is the most wonderful thing to do!! Let me know if I can do anything to help you!

Work hard, sweetie! Be the best that you can be at whatever you decide. See you in 2006!

Congrats, Vija on all of the wonderful life-decisions you have made ! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc So glad to see that you are going to stop lurking and start posting more -- although your new schedule may prohibit you from being here on WISH as much as WE want you to ;) Even if you do get way too busy, at least post to let us know how things are going for you and your path to a new career.

Mary Liz

Vija! The marathon is simply about setting a GOAL- and look you've set a LIFETIME GOAL!!!! That far outweighs a simple moment in time! You are teaching your son a VALUABLE gift- and when you become that teacher that you dreamed of- think how precious achieving it will have been.
And I agree with the other WISH'er- set a goal for a 5 or 10k locally- what's even better is that many local ones are geared towards charities and you and your DS could train together! Let us know and we'll come up with a special WISH'er in training medal for when you finish it! :)

I SAY OUTSTANDING!!! Welcome back and GREAT JOB on signing that contract! That's the toughest part! And every day is a clean slate- if you have a bad day- make the next one better- keep us up to date on your path and losing ways!! :)

And don't stay away so long- we missed you!!!

Tara

Welcome back, Vija!!! It is so nice to see you here again. Congrats on the new career choice and good for you for recommiting to yourself!
