Happy 50th MSEP

Can't wait to see it! I remember watching it on Main Street in the summer of 1996 with tears streaming down my face as they were advertising it as the last chance to see it before it went away forever. (I was a sad adult, not a sad child! 😄) Such a huge part of my childhood. Now I get to see it in August for the first time in 26 years. The only thing that would make me go to Disneyland in the summer, as I hate the heat!

We were so happy to get to watch it a couple times on our recent trip. My wife is a huge Mary Blair fan and she thoroughly enjoyed the new finale. I know some were upset about the removal of the America finale but the new one really is great and a very fitting addition to the parade. DD12 was obsessed with Elliott and got Pete to to wave to her during the parade. She loves when parade character acknowledge her. We bought her an Elliott stuffed animal to bring home and it's her bedtime companion.

I remember seeing the Main Street Electrical Parade when I went to Disneyland for the first time when I was six years old and I agree with everybody here that it's a classic parade. From the time the exciting theme intro is introduced you are swept away into a world of magic and wonder. And by the time it's over you can never forget that feeling that makes you feel like a child again. How does the new version of the Main Street Electrical Parade compare to the classic original version? I know that the iconic America finale is gone and that the classic Elliott float with Pete from Pete's Dragon is still there. I always thought the theme music of the parade reminded me of a game show and I thought it was neat especially since the composers of the Main Street Electrical Parade theme also created the theme song to the game show The Joker's Wild. And did you say that Jack Wagner does the new parade intro now? Wasn't he from General Hospital and had a hit in the 80's with the power ballad All I Need?

Used to watch it at MK in WDW back in the 80's. I recall setting up 2 hrs early with my camera tripod atop the train station platform to get the best photos. The trick was to snap the shutter when the floats paused for a second or two every so often, as you had to use a very slow shutter speed.

We saw it in the fall of 2019 when they brought it back at Disneyland for a couple of months.

Happy 50th anniversary Main Street Electrical Parade! I worked this parade in the 80’s and 90’s. Best time of my life. Love it today as much as I did then. Thank you Disneyland for all the wonderful summer memories. ✨ 🐉 🦁 🧚 🐌 🐭

You know, the purists will probably hate me, but I didn’t love it this time. I didn’t like that they changed the intro and didnt like the end at all.

Parade seemed shorter to me than one from many years ago, I think the last time I saw it was at WDW. We sat there FOREVER, but this was just meh.
Of course, it didn’t help that one of the little bugs kept breaking down and the parade kept getting delayed. I was at the end towards Matterhorn, was second run of parade. We could see the lights flashing back towards Main Street but no parade. Finally they had to push the little guy back to the barn and then rest of parade followed.

I’m with the PTN crowd now, I’d much rather see that come back. Only saw it once but it was great.
