Happy 45th WDW.

Overall, nothing horribly special about the anniversary day but there was a buzz in the air. Met a lot of great people, say some bloggers that aren't the prominent ones that everyone can name without thinking. Disney did really keep the day a little more special than normal even as it got more crowded (at least until 2pmish when I left from crowds and heat). things like main street vehicles out all the time except for during the ceremony (2 at a time, they kept rotating what was there to ride). They did the trolley show at noon and did it several times as they went down main street (is that normal?) then the horse did 1 more loop for anyone that wanted to ride (I was stuck in the merch line) which sucks because that was a goal for today since I've never ridden it. citizens of main street, street performers. The only thing I didn't run into was the marching band but that tends to be afternoons. There was some surprise characters out, ones you can see in some of the parades but not normally meet and greet. they seemed to be using the back of the castle for this as that area never got as crowded as the rest of the park. The cupcakes were a sugary overload but looked great.. The button that I referred to as a pin was a nice hand out, I kind of wish they gave the paper ticket like they've done on previous 5th anniversaries but the button was nice. Many people came out with buttons from many other anniversaries. Morning show was basically the same with some extra wording that it's the anniversary and what to expect..

The normal 45th merch looked really nice so next trip in (tomorrow to see muppets) I'm going to be grabbing some cups and other things that caught my eye. I wasn't in the mood to carry them today.. There is some treats for the 45th that wasn't limited today (least bigtop had some apples and more generic but still disney cupcakes). i'll probably also hit another park like epcot for a food and wine circle so I'll find out if it's only MK that no longer has 2016 merch and that's been switched to 45th anniversary merch.

All in all, I was happy to attend one. I've been there on anniversary years in the past but this was my first anniversary day. I would do it again, if you weren't interested int he 45th stuff, you had the run of the park from rope drop until about 11-12 because 90% of the people never made it out of the hub.

New things side note:
- They put up walls all around the bus/ttc ferry area. They even blocked off the dock that was being used for a smoking section. I suspect we're about to see a new permanent security setup or they are making more room for people waiting for the ferry.. this is in addition to the restroom being made by the higher numbered bus stops. they had walls up between the walkway to contemporary and the lower bus stops previous so it really looks like they are planning to move security and make more room in the entrance area and probably beef it up more.
- they had the extra bus side security tables in use, I'm not sure if this has been normal for rope drop as I don't normally rope drop but it was nice. I went bagless though. It was really packed there was a point where they had to stop more people from getting past security until the gates opened and you could clear out everyone waiting to get in. The children scanning their finger sucks btw.. it never works first try if it ever works and it really slows down getting in.

Great job @Accident, thanx so much for your "man on the spot" reports! Enjoy the Muppets today, can't wait to hear about that!
