Hannah Montana wig.....TANGLES

My daughter is going to be Hannah Montana for Halloween and we bought the wig at the Disney Store. The wig is a mess with tangles. I've spent so much time trying to detangle it but it looks like I barely touched the thing.

Is it ok to use a spray detangler or even wet it and use conditioner on it? I would only wet from half way down to the ends. I wouldn't get the part that goes on the head wet. I don't know if those 2 things will ruin the wig.

Have you tried water and a metal bristle brush? That is how the american girl doll hair is supposed to be handled. Plastic bristles stretch the nylon hairs and make it worse. Mist it with water and comb it gently.

I had a friend suggest some liquid downey in a bowl, let the hair lay in it and soak for a little while then try and comb thru, I don't know if it works.

I just used detangler on ours...but it is a "straight" one, and not a Disney brand (a long black cheapo one)..and a fine-toothed comb....and lots of patience.

Then I cut it shorter, added bangs, hot-rollered the bottom and hairsprayed it to look like Cleopatra, and, if I do say so myself, it looks AWESOME!

I also had a lot more luck once I rigged a "wig holder" instead of just trying to comb it on my lap....I used a water pitcher upside down on a roll of paper towels, lol. The pitcher handle was her "nose"....

I remember hearing that you can detangle barbie doll hair by dipping it in very hot water.....

did you pull the strands through a dryer sheet? i've done that to tame doll hair.

My DD wanted the Hannah wig for her birthday in July. It was tops on her list. Well....we were so disappointed in the wig when she got it. She squealed with delight when she got it. It looked pretty for about 2 hours. Then, it was a tangled mess!! I finally discarded it when she went to school one day, and she hasn't mentioned it since. What a waste for both her and myself! The doll was very nice, though.

I've spent so much time on this stupid wig.

I'll try the dryer sheet today and maybe the fabric softener. The detangle spray helped a bit but it still has some snarls I can't get rid of.
