IT'S CHICAGO TRAINING TIME!!!
Training update 6/4 - 6/10
Sometimes I still can't believe we are actually going to be running the Chicago Marathon in 4 short months!! And so this past week kicked off our newest @DopeyBadger training plan to get us ready for the big race and my elusive goal of a sub-5:00 marathon. I'm feeling good and healthy and ready to do this thing!!Training update 6/4 - 6/10

Let's check in on how things went, shall we?
Monday 6/4 - 3 miles at our Easy Continuous pace. We managed the 3 miles at a continuous run, but sort of blew it on the pace. We are supposed to run at 12:29 but clocked in at 11:08. Oops. Let's chalk that up to the excitement of the new training plan, shall we?

Tuesday 6/5 - 3 miles at Easy/LR pace (60/30 intervals). Good run here. Ran with one of our other Galloway buddies and my daughter Paige joined us. Overall pace 12:10.
Wednesday 6/6 - Rest

Thursday 6/7 - Daniels T paces. Hey, our first time running Daniels T paces!! So, for this we do 1 mile WU and the we did 4 x 0.5 mile intervals at a 9:47 pace with 1 minute rest intervals in between, and then 1 mile CD. How'd we do? Pretty good, I think. These felt easier than the 10k paces we did on our last plan even though we ran for longer periods. We were too fast on the first two intervals, but got much closer on the last 2, so hopefully over time we'll get a bit better at those.
Friday 6/8 - Rest
Saturday 6/9 - Ran with our Galloway group. We are in a group running 60/30 and pace between 12:00 and 12:30, so it basically works with Billy's plan. My daughter Paige ran with us again so love that! 4 miles at an average pace of 12:31.
Sunday 6/10 - 6 miles at Easy/LR. Ugh we had a hard time getting started on this one. We've been doing a bunch of remodeling in our basement with new flooring going down and painting, so Saturday was a huge amount of work down there and we were both exhausted, but once we got the first mile or so under our belts, it ended up a good run. Average pace 12:19.
Total mileage for the week: 20.2
So, there you go! First week of Chicago training wrapped up and very successful.

P.S. I didn't manage yoga or strength training though. Gotta get serious about that as well!
