Hanging laundry to dry in resort room??

Something I have been worried about:

At home, I hang just about everything to dry on a rack. I plan to do laundry once or twice while there because we are going for two weeks and don't want to pack outfits for every single day.

What could I do as a drying option? Any tips you have on how to handle this without bringing a ton of stuff?

Does it need to hang dry or can it go into a dryer? There are not many options if you need to hang dry the clothes. Put them on a hanger?

From what I remember, in the shower there is a string you can pull to let your clothes/bathing suits dry. It's in the bathroom so it doesn't dry fast but it works.

But all the Disney hotels (not sure about the Deluxe but I know the values and moderates do) have a place to do laundry and it's not too expensive.

I would only hang or lay flat items that absolutely have to be dried that way. I would use the dryer for everything else. Even if you prefer to hang dry at home skip it at WDW. There really isn't room, and with how humid Florida can be, it can take quite a while for clothes to hang dry.

I pack a baggie with some of those plastic hooks with a clothespin end on them. That way, if there isn't a clothesline in the tub, I can hang the items from the shower rod. I usually do the hand washing late afternoon or evening, and leave the bathroom door open overnight so air can circulate. Items are mostly dry by morning and I move them to the hanging rod in the closet to finish drying during the day. Most of what I am washing is lightweight stuff though - if you are planning on full laundry, I would just bring a roll of quarters and hit the Laundromat at your resort.

If you generally don't dry them at home...WDW isn't the place to start. Those dryers are murder on clothes! (at least my experience with dvc ones have been) :scared1:

Are you driving? Bring your dryer rack. Flying? I'd pack clothes I like the least and maybe chance drying (killing) those least favorite outfits.

Good luck.

I thought about bringing a shower rod (from home) and hangers. I just don't like to use dryers. Our clothes have lived a lot longer because I don't dry them in a dryer.

I will have two box fans (we need them to sleep) so we will have air circulating throughout the two rooms. Maybe this would work??

I get that it extends the life of the clothes, but for one trip, using a dryer won't hurt them. Unless it is something the manufacturer recommends not putting in a dryer.

If you are planning on hanging them in the bathroom, I don't think the box fans will help much with drying them, if at all. I also think it is a bad idea to try and put up a shower rod, what if you mark up the wall? The problem with clothes on the line all of the time is, what do you do with them when someone needs to bathe?

They do have a string that pulls out above the bath tub, so if you want to hang your clothes, that is already there. Also, you can request extra hangers from housekeeping.

If you must hang dry, pack things that are very light weight and won't take much time to dry. And was as they are worn, so you don't run into wanting to wear something that is still damp.

When are you going? If you're going anywhere near the humid months of the year (from what I can gather--pretty much May through October), it may take 3 days for your clothes to dry, even with box fans. Our slightly-damp bathing suits often don't dry overnight unless we put them outside.

The fans will just circulate already moist air and won't help nearly as much as you think.

As PP mentions, there is a string in the shower you can pull out to hang stuff on but it does NOT hold a lot. It will hold my bikini, cover up, and my fiance's bathing suit and that's about it. It certianly wouldn't hold a full load.

If you're driving, you could bring a collapsable drying rack. I got a nice one from Bed Bath & Beyond, but I'm sure there are cheaper ones around. Obviously not practical if you're flying. You could hang them in the hanger area. Even with clean clothes hung up, we always had a ton of extra space for hanging, just no hangers. So, you can either bring extra hangers or request some from housekeeping.

String and some pegs if you absolutely need the pegs. Otherwise some string will make a clothesline in any hotel room and you just throw it in the bin when you are done.

I travel quite a bit, to WDW as well as other parts of the world. I like to hang my clothes too. I bring wire hangers on trips with me and travel packets of tide for the washer. The wire hangers are the kind you get at the dry cleaners. My dry cleaner recycles them. So I can pick up a few from him if I don't have any at home. I also bring travel sink packets of tide to hand wash, but when you wash in the sink clothes take longer to dry. I bring some clothespins too.
I buy quick dry shirts, shorts, capris and underwear. I hang the shorts/capris on a wire hanger by the waistband with clothespins, the shirts on the hanger and underwear over the bottom wire. I hang the hangers with the clothing on the shower rod in the evening. The AC dries them pretty well overnight. If there are a few that aren't dry I hang them in the closet while were at the parks or on tour the next day. They are always dry when I return.

I leave the wire hangers in the room when I check out.
