Has anyone ever taken a handheld frequency scanner along on a trip to WDW? There is a website that lists the local frequencies, and it sounds interesting. If you have done this, did you actually take it into the parks, or just listen when you were around your hotel?

I haven't researched the law on this yet, b/c I know it varies from state to state. Just wondered if anyone had experience doing this.
Thanks!

My question is, why would you want too? (not meant snidely). I for one, wouldn't want to listen to it at WDW. I wouldn't want the "magic" to mirror "reality". Yes, things happen even at Disney - but I would assume the EMS side is a whole lot of BS calls. I'd also guess that other Guest wouldn't appreciate you listening in the parks. And some might even be scared by it, and report it to security.

Radio frequency scanning is not just for listening to emergency situations. Given the proper frequencies you might also be able to hear if a ride is temporarily
closed down, or if Mickey is hanging out by Mission Space. I just saw that those frequencies for the WDW area are all out on a website, so I was just curious to know where people are using them! Thanks!

I'm curious what site you got the frequency list from. I've got a really old list (10+ years old), but its not much use now because WDW has pretty much moved to a trunked system.

Also, I suspect that emergency services frequencies are probably scrambled now. Does anybody know for sure?
