I am taking my DW on the 9/19 sailing of the Magic to the Western Caribbean for our 10 year anniversary (was a surprise to her up until yesterday btw) and she is addicted to handbags/purses, no really, she may be in need of an intervention! They don't need to be designer but she does have good taste. So I was wondering if there are any great places that I can take her to in any of the ports we will be stopping. We also have two pre-teen DD we are leaving at home that have inheirited (sp) her addiction, so if anyone has had any good experiences or advice I would really appreciate it.

TIA-Mark

I took Celebrity SJ, PR, St. Maarten, Tortola cruise in February and street vendors were selling "prada" bags.....got a nice bag from some designer (or not) for $40. DD calls it the Frada bag.

I think there is a Coach Factory store in Grand Cayman.

I discovered Parazul bags on a Western Caribbean cruise.

It used to be that they were only available in the Caribbean and Alaska. You can buy them online now, but the deals are better in the Caribbean. I don't know about Alaska since I haven't been there yet... someday though. ;)

The "Island Companies" store in Grand Cayman carries them.

If your DW decides she likes them be sure to buy her a collection of different scarves and charms to go with her new handbag. :thumbsup2

This is the co website if you want to check them out:

Whatever you decide... happy shopping!

Parazul bags are also sold on the Wonder, not sure about the Magic. I'm sure a recent Magic cruiser can verify or not if they are available onboard.

As for a Coach Factory store, they usually have the same prices and similiar selection as the factory stores in the states that are located in the outlet centers across the country.

Can you get the parazul bags in St. Thomas? And if so, how much cheaper are they than on the website? They are beautiful but, I can't afford the price on the website.

They keychain charms were running the the $20 range on the Wonder, the scarves were in the $35 range, can't remember how much the actual bags were since I wasn't interested in them, but they are pricey.

IIRC in GC the posted price on the large bag was $285 vs $340 on the website. I imagine S/H and possibly tax are added to online prices as well.

Of course if you're good at the bargaining thing, you can get them to come down more in the shops, especially if you put together a package deal. ;)

They're certainly not cheap, but they are nice. I've gotten many, many positive comments on mine. :thumbsup2

I'm not sure how true this is... but the girl in the shop said that Parazul bags are made in the same factory, and to similar quality standards, as Louis Vuitton bags. Compared to $1,000 (give or take a few hundred) for the same size LV, Parazul bags look like an absolute bargain... although without the recognizeable status logo.
:rotfl2:

I didn't know they sold them onboard. I don't imagine they do any price bargaining onboard though.

There is a shop in Key West on the corner of the main storefront as soon as you get off the ship all the way to the left end of the shopping center, sorry I cant remember the name of it, but they have gorgeous bags for super cheap! I got a beautiful clutch for formal night for only 10 bucks! And it literally took me 20 mins to decide which one I wanted because they are all sooooo pretty!!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks so much for the info. Are there any stores in STT or ST Croix that sell nice handbags that are not so expensive? (Like less than $100)

Parazul bags were on the Magic during our May 30th Western.

Also, not sure if you are spending time in Orlando prior or post cruise. But, there are a couple of outlet malls with great purse selections. I too share the same "issue" as your wife. And unfortunately, I live in Orlando, so it does nothing to dissuade my problem.

I did see a few shops in Grand Cayman when we were there that had purses for sale in them, but nothing specifically dedicated to that. I had heard of the Coach outlet but since there are a couple here I wasn't interested in looking.

best of luck!

There's also a Coach Factory store in Key West that's within walking distance of the ship.

If you are going to be near WDW on your way you can get the new Disney pattern Dooney & Bourke. They have 2 different patterns, several styles, and are sold at World of Disney and TrendD so you don't have to pay for park admission.

Stay away from the obvious fakes. If I need to explain why, you are not a real purse fanatic anyway! :)

A unique bag that can be found on St. Thomas are the stingray bags sold at Sibella. Here is their website: http://www.sibella.com

Very pretty and well made bags. They do not come cheap, but if you are looking for a bag that will last for a good long lifetime, these are heard to beat. They are not an approved by Disney seller probably, but the owners are salt of the earth types that will treat you fairly and welcome you to their store.

I bought my wife a bag and pocketbook on our last trip to St. Thomas - she has been more than pleased.

I just wanted to add that besides the fact that fake bags are ILLEGAL they are linked to terrorism, organized crime, human trafficking and child labor.

Do you really want to go through customs with contraband?

Well, looks like I may be buying a new bag on board.
