Hand held surface steamer, do you have one and how well does it work?

I have been thinking of getting one of those Shark hand held steamer cleaners. Not the one for floors, the one for counters and such. I did a search here to see if there was a thread and could not find one. The online reviews I have read are shady, I wonder if half are written by Shark themselves. If anyone has one and would like to share their opinion I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I have tried one (borrowed from my mom) and it worked great! It is a little annoying...spray the steam, wipe up the steam....but it cleaned all the hard water stains off of my shower door. I decided not to invest in one because I thought I'd use it more for deep cleaning not everyday type cleaning. One deal a day has them on sale today for $14.99 plus $4.99 S&H.

I have the one like PP has on 1saleaday but with the cylinder and wedge pads and stuff. It does come in handy. I do like it for the most part. I would love to get some more pads for it. Biggest down fall, you have to keep a hold of the trigger for it to work, doesn't have an on switch. This does get tiring on your arms. Also if you are using it on something, then stop for even a minute, the pad gets soaked and it really doesn't work any more. You have to switch the pads or clean and dry the one you are using. I have gotten to where I line everything up I need to do in the area so I don't have to stop. But even then, after a bit it gets soaked so you have to change the pads. I was barely able to finish my kitchen cabinets before I'd have needed to change pads. Using it for windows was worthless because you had to unplug it to go from one to the other, allowing the pad to get soaked. It also didn't do as well on the tub as I hoped it would do (and the whole reason I got one of these things) but it does help immensely.

Bottom line is, it does come in handy, more often than I would have ever thought. I do like it and I'm glad I have it. It's a bit inconvenient at times, and a bit expensive, but still worth it. I'd recommend getting extra pads for it if you can, esp those for the cylinder attachment.

I have the Scunci brand hand held steamer and love mine. I mainly use it to clean the grout in my dining room and kitchen. It works great and definitely worth the $5 price I paid on clearance at CVS 3 or 4 years ago.

I have a scunci steamer also. I love using the steamer for cleaning the microwave and the stove. The steam cuts through all the grease on the stove and I don't have to use any "cleaner" type products. I also like the way it gets the microwave clean when there is stuck on stuff in there. Takes no time at all to clean with.

Thanks everyone for your answers, sounds like they do work and I do not have to get the most expensive to get the benefit of the steam clean. I was looking to really deep clean my kitchen cabinet faces, the bottom ones. They are 17 years old, Kraft maid, and heave held up really well but they need a good deepdown clean. I am going to check out the link and when it thaws a bit see if there are in in clearance in the stores. Thanks again y'all are great.
