Curious to know if there are plenty of hammocks to go around on CC or do you have to stake your claim to those early in the morning?

There are two on the adult beach..you need to get there early!

I don't remember there being plenty of them but there were some. We did get some chairs right next to one but did not claim it. I felt like it was there for everyone to enjoy. While down by the water another family did move in on the other side of the hammock and claimed it as theirs by putting their towels on it. It was a little disappointed but what can you do.

You do need to get there early to get a hammock. There is one there with a plaque with my name on it... "One Lazy Woman". I get there early and there is someone from our group on it most of the day. :grouphug: 11 of us last trip shared 2 hammocks. Some of us snorkled while some of us enjoyed konk coolers on the hammock.

Few Hammocks are actually used for anything except holding towels. Many people get their early, stake their claim to a hammock or two and then rarely use it. But that's just the way it easy. There would be plenty of hammocks to go around if they were unclaimed - and folks used them, got up and left them available for anyone else to use, but it doesn't work that way.

My sister had some luck asking the group next to us if she could use the hammock that they had claimed. She assured them that she'd give it back the second they wanted to use it. She laid in it reading a book for an hour, got out and put their stuff back in it. We never did see them use the hammock the rest of the day. I have heard of others who have asked if they could use an unused hammock and they were told no. But you might give it a try if you don't get one for yourself.

This is the exact thing I have observed. I wish if people were not going to use it they would not claim it. It is much better to leave it open for others to use at any time. I know at the WDW resorts if you leave a towel for a while without other stuff around the towel they will clean up the towels, I wish they had enough CM's to do this at CC and the pools on the ship.

That's what I figured. It's the same at any park you go to really. :confused3

I agree with the comments made. Most people claim them very early and then don't use them. I applaud the group that had 12 people rotating through the day. But you must realize you are the exception.

I've been to Castaway Cay over a half dozen times and have never been close to getting a hammock. The funny thing is that on the Christmas cruise last year, it was cold out and we were among only a handful of people on Serenity Bay -- and still we didn't get a hammock and I didn't see the people who had thrown their stuff in the hammock using them, either.
