Man, that was good! I have memorized all the music already but had never seen it nor knew Hamilton's story enough to know what would happen. I loved seeing how some of my favorite songs fit into the story (and the characters who sang them!) and already knowing them helped me really understand what was happening. My husband was completely knew to it so he looked up the lyrics and followed along that way.
I'll also say that the production was very well done. I am a Broadway nerd and have tried watching stage productions on film before and find it always loses so much of it's energy and just doesn't translate well to a screen. This recording was awesome. I would have hated to be in the audience while they recorded but for the home viewer, it was great. We'll be rewatching it... a lot!
As we watched, I couldn't help but remember that just about everyone on the stage and behind the scenes are all unemployed right now. I hope theater is able to make a tremendous return when it's safe to do so - the talents they share with us is such a gift.
