Hamilton on Disney Plus this Friday....who's excited!!??

Man, that was good! I have memorized all the music already but had never seen it nor knew Hamilton's story enough to know what would happen. I loved seeing how some of my favorite songs fit into the story (and the characters who sang them!) and already knowing them helped me really understand what was happening. My husband was completely knew to it so he looked up the lyrics and followed along that way.

I'll also say that the production was very well done. I am a Broadway nerd and have tried watching stage productions on film before and find it always loses so much of it's energy and just doesn't translate well to a screen. This recording was awesome. I would have hated to be in the audience while they recorded but for the home viewer, it was great. We'll be rewatching it... a lot!

As we watched, I couldn't help but remember that just about everyone on the stage and behind the scenes are all unemployed right now. I hope theater is able to make a tremendous return when it's safe to do so - the talents they share with us is such a gift.

At the intermission and OMG, I never expected to get all emotional watching it. Its been on my bucket list for years but I never thought I would get to see it.

Its such a stunning piece of work and when you realize that Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the music and words AND is the lead, its just insane.

I guess maybe I connect with the story due its parallels with the story of my country. We too were a British colony and a few years after the war that Alexander Hamilton fought against the British, the Irish began rebellions against the British in 1798.

Broadway and West End (London) shows can sometimes been seen as elitist and unattainable for many, for various reasons. Hamilton has done something remarkable. The fact that the music and style of lyrics are NOT the typical theatre style and that the cast is predominantly POC has broken down so many barriers.

Bringing the music and dance styles of modern day black culture into the theatre and using it to tell the story of white America is huge, especially in current world we live in.

Immigrants get it done :)

I saw the touring production in L.A. Christmas Week 2017 and another touring production in Nashville back in January, and this production was still a revelation, giving me the chance to see what else was going on onstage when a character was singing. Seeing the original Broadway cast production, even on TV was something I never expected.

I agree that filmed versions of previous stage productions didn't translate as well to screen and this made me wish that some of my other favorites, like Les Miz and Book of Mormon had been filmed like this as well.

If they ever film a nonstage version of Hamilton, it will have a difficult time living up to this film (or seeing the show live) for me, and I hope that, at some point when things get back to "normal," this will still be released in theaters because it would be amazing on the big screen.

I loved it. The performances were spellbinding-one as good as the other. Even though I have. Even listening to the soundtrack since January, seeing it was amazing. And I cried.

I get teary during several of the numbers in Hamilton. I think that's partly due to the story, but also the fact that we got into Hamilton in 2017, and well, we're going through it as a nation. In my house, Hamilton is not only an amazing piece of work, but also a beacon of hope.

We just finished watching and loved it! We lost air conditioning earlier this week so are using fans and had to open some windows but are in a townhouse where we can only turn the volume on the tv up to a certain level to not disturb people so could not hear all of the dialogue so definitely want to watch again once our new air conditioning system is put in.

I thought this was amazing. My girls have played the soundtrack non stop for the past 2 years but we were not lucky enough to get tickets when it came to town so I had never seen the actual show. The production in my opinion was incredible. I was clapping along with the audience and was crying during the last two numbers. I plan to re watch it tonight since I know I miss some stuff.

I had theater Tix and we sold them lol. Love Disney plus... May take a look at it...

Haven't finished watching it, but found that the one minute intermission was rather cute. I guess at that point most people at home would just pause or stop it and come back.

That's great! Honestly, it was so well done, and with the best cast. But yes...watch it again and again. There are so many little details in that show. I know we'll watch it again and again.

Great gif..lol! Ok, but was anyone else thinking that King George would give an entire theater COVID??!! He was a spitter for sure!!

Jonathan Groff has been known for this for YEARS. During his run in Spring Awakening back in 2007 it was an ongoing joke. It's gross lol.

Oh wow...I didn't know that! When he first came out I noticed that his lips were very wet, and then the spitting began....lol! He's great in the role, but man, I'd hate to be in the front row when he starts singing!

My daughter and I watched it and both enjoyed it, but not as wowed by it as some others. I think it would be better to see live. I also had a hard time following the fast paced singing, so we turned on closed captioning. That really helped!
