Hamilton on Disney Plus this Friday....who's excited!!??

Yes, the family plans on watching it. No, I would not say we're "excited".

I'd like to see what all of the hype is about. Haven't heard the Soundtrack.

Very excited! We were supposed to see it earlier this month at the Pantages (Los Angeles), but of course it was cancelled. We are re-booked for January, but this needs to hold me over until then!

We were also supposed to see it at the Pantages - we had a trip to California planned for July. Being able to see it on Disney+ is a small consolation to that whole trip going up in smoke.

We’ve never seen it before. My daughter listens to the soundtrack constantly. Looking forward to Friday!

A strong recommendation if you are someone that doesn't love "rap" or has a hard time following rapid fire lyrics - read the lyrics first.
I suppose this comment will make me seem a lot like I don't like a lot of things, but I don't go to the theater to do homework before seeing the show.

Theater is (IMO) entertainment. Having to study up on the lyrics/music/subject matter before seeing a show, or delve into "isn't life terrible" angst isn't my idea of entertainment.

I can imagine that would be a big sting added to already having to cancel a whole trip (and I get that as we are cancelling out WDW trip in September and already had DVC cancel our DL anniversary visit to VGC). We live in OC, so not so bad. But we are definitely disappointed to miss it right now at the Pantages, but we were lucky to get tickets for the future.

Hmm, I didn't see it as homework because the writing really is good. If you like words and vocab, and have even a passing interest in US history it's not a bad read. And I'd say more interesting by far than a standard biography. It's definitely not "isn't life terrible." It's more "I'm not giving away my shot" to quote a line from the show. Take life by the b***s and make the most of it. Reading the lyrics and some of the annotations made me really appreciate just how influential and downright genius the real Alexander Hamilton was. I can see the reason LMM thought it would make a good show, but I'm still in awe of how he did it. It's an intelligent, thoughtful, fun production. It also is really inspiring as an American. In a time when there is so much fighting over the path of our country, it felt good to see how hard we worked to establish the country - and that it wasn't easy or even that everyone agreed on how to do it even back then.

I hear you, and normally, like you...I like to go in "cold"....not knowing anything about a show. Somehow, Hamilton was different. My husband, who plays guitar and piano, started playing the soundtrack around the house. And like others, while I enjoy rap from time to time....it's not my go-to playlist. And so the more we heard it, we were both even kind of surprised how much we fell in love with the soundtrack. By the summer of 2017 we we had tickets for my 50th....made a weekend out of it and stayed in the city.

So, I totally get what you're saying...we just fell in love with music first, then came the show. No different than many, many of the older shows we've seen now that I think of it. The King and I, Evita, Man of LaMancha, Fiddler on the Roof, Jesus Christ Superstar, Phantom, Les Mis (2nd fav!!), West Side Story....on and on....I knew every one of those soundtracks before I saw the shows.

I am so excited! Never got to see it but have heard some of the songs. My DH just surprised me with Disney + a week ago as an early anniversary gift and that was one of the first things I thought of that I would be able to see this. My DM wants to come over either Fri or Sun to watch with us.

I’m not really excited. I saw his bit with Fallon, and that was good. But I feel like the hype around this musical has died off.

I would be more excited to see the Harry Potter play made into a movie or made available to watch from home. I saw it in London, and it was fantastic.

What a wonderful gift! That's so awesome. Like I said earlier, we got a year of Disney Plus because of Hamilton, and then we've enjoyed some movies and other programming. The Mandolorian was very good! My sister and family haven't seen Hamilton but love the soundtrack, so we gifted them a subscription as well. My niece and nephew are turning 15 and 13 next week...and they know the whole soundtrack. Hope you and your family have a great time!

I am SO excited! We actually saw it on the West End during our London trip a couple of years ago - tickets were so much easier to get than the SF production (not to mention cheaper, and I'm talking orchestra seats). I did listen to the soundtrack beforehand, and I think it enhanced the experience. But DH is a history buff and went in cold, and enjoyed it as well.

The Mandolorian is one of the things we plan to watch. So far I saw One Day at Disney, Disney through the Seasons, and all episodes of Be our Chef. Am really looking forward to the Muppets new show. I have been a little down lately because we had a really nice trip we would have been on last week and this week and am feeling really stressed at work and my DH doing this really cheered me up. Also, we got a new tv that is compatible with this and other streaming services which helped as well.
