Hamburgs at grill - has anyone noticed?

We were on the Fantasy in November and I was disappointed that the burgers are just pulled from a warming tray.....there were stacks of burgers in this warming tray which they would take one out and put it on a bun. They weren't actually grilling because they had so many pre-grilled. There burgers aren't the greatest to begin with and are worse after warming tray. Has anyone else noticed this?

It's always been that way. You're not likely to get actual grilled ones unless it's real busy, and they have to grill them to catch up with the orders.

What I do so it doesn’t taste as bad. I ask for 2 pieces of cheese. Also I put lettuce and tomato on my burger which I hardly ever do. Yes they are not the greatest but sometimes I just feel like having a greasy burger on a cruise and don’t want to wait for the burger at lunch where they serve you.

Agreed with both of these. I have almost always had my burger pulled from a warming drawer. True, they are not the best burgers ever, but I think speed is more the goal here. “Grab and go”.

Given how crowded the pool deck can get, especially on sea days, I don’t think anyone wants 10, 20, 30 people crowded in that quick-service area, waiting around for everyone’s burgers to be grilled on the spot. I think it would get packed quickly, with people blocking the entrance to the adults-only section and the doors to the mid-ship elevators.

Like @dclpluto, I also load the burger with cheese and a bunch of stuff from the condiment bar, which helps a lot in terms of taste. In fact, heading to Flo’s by myself, grabbing a gross loaded burger and eating it by myself is one of my favorite little “me time” breaks on the cruise.

Yes. And I agree that they are not very good.

I will say the pizza we had was always very fresh though. Maybe that is higher turnover?

Yep, and it tastes like Elios Pizza, sort of......and fortunately, I actually like Elios.....ate plenty of pizza a couple weeks ago on the Fantasy!

Maybe the pizza doesn’t “keep” as well as the burgers, so they have to rotate it more often?

Their pizza is like eating a cracker. Very thin crust. They use to have good pizza many years ago. Regular pizza not thin crust. Thin crust saves money.

I think the pizza is fine but I prefer thin crust. I've enjoyed the mm ore adventurous flavors we've had recently.

I think it bears mentioning that the wrap/sandwich counter at the end (nearest to the adult area/Cove Café) is always super-fresh. And a good bit healthier than the other counters, too.

None of the food on deck is that fantastic. We rarely eat from there - we go get ice cream instead. But, the few times we have, yeah, unfortunately, it just comes out of the warming tray.

I've had better luck with the burgers at White Water snacks in the park. The burgers on the ship. Meh. I prefer the pizza.
