Oooh ooh...maybe the whole "hamburg" thing is like us Italians who often leave off the end of a word, like:

Manicotti= often pronounced Man-ih-got

Ricotta= Rih-got

Cappicolla= Cap-ih-col

Maybe they just left off the "er" at the end of Hamburger when pronounced?

It's hamburger or ground beef (either one works).

I have friends in Hamburg. And I would never eat my friends.

I call it ground beef, unless in patty form, then it is a hamburger. :teeth:

Okay, I do pronounce those words that way. :blush: I'm constantly saying "rigot." I had to explain to my DH once what rigot was when I asked him to pick some up for dinner.

Now, I can I see how they could say "hamburg" for hamburger.

I can see I'm in the minority here but I have always said hamburg.

It turns into a hamburger after I'm done shaping the hamburg into a lovely disc like shape....
