Do the ships have any decorations or special events in the run up to haloween in a similar way to the parks?

We will be on the Wonder over Halloween. We received the following message from DCL:
"We'll be celebrating Halloween on our ships this year with several themed events, including traditional trick-or-treating and a special costume parade for children on the the following sail dates:
Disney Magic - October 22, 2011 and October 29, 2011
Disney Wonder - October 23, 2011 and October 30, 2011"

They go on to say they encourage guests of all ages to bring costumes. There will be contests. The remind you to choose costumes which are not obstructive or offensive. Also, to refrain from bringing toys or props that resemble guns, knives or other related implements as they items will not be allowed onboard.

And if you're cruising on the Dream, this is the email I received:

We’ll be celebrating Halloween on the Disney Dream™® this year with several themed events, including traditional trick-or-treating and a special costume parade for children on the October 30, 2011, sailing.

Though not required, we encourage Guests of all ages to bring along their costumes for these special events. There will even be a costume contest for our adult guests on one evening with prizes awarded based on the following categories:

Funniest
Best Group
Most Spooky
Most Original
Most Disney

More information on themed nights, times and locations will be available onboard in the Personal Navigator that will be delivered to your stateroom.

All Guests are invited to wear costumes; however, we ask that you choose costumes which are not obstructive or offensive. To avoid any disappointment or delay in your boarding process, we ask that when considering costume options you refrain from bringing toys or props that resemble guns, knives or other related implements, as these items will not be allowed onboard.

We are cruising on the Dream on October 23rd-27. I was hopeful that there would be some sort of Halloween activities (and had asked specifically about this before booking a year ago; I was told there are usually Halloween activities for all end of October sail dates). But, since I didn't get one of the e-mails (like others have posted here) I e-mailed DCL recently, and I was told that ONLY the Oct. 30 Dream cruise will have Halloween activities.

That stinks like yesterday's diapers! :sad2:

I don't get it -- the Magic and Wonder have special events during the Halloween cruise and on the cruise prior but the Dream only has the special events on the one cruise...why would they not have a uniform event schedule?

I'm on the October 30 Dream cruise - but would hate to haul the costume out there just to find out the adult costume contest is the same night I'm supposed to go to Remy. (Which is not Halloween itself).

Here are some pics of the Halloween party from 2009.

Rats...we're on the Dream on October 23 also! I was hoping for Halloween stuff . :sad2:

I wish they did stuff all October long. I know we sail earlier in the month but with MNSSHP at the parks I was hoping for something.

They had the same exact stuff for the 2010 Wonder cruise. We actually boarded the ship on the 31st. They did Halloween trick or treating the morning of the 1st and costume contests before we hit Nassau. We didn't dock in Nassau until almost noon to accomodate the festivities.

It was okay but my 10 year old was bored. It's not as fun as Halloween party at MK. But she loved the characters in their costumes!!

That is really a bummer for those traveling a couple weeks prior to Halloween. I guess I should be excited since we're on the Oct. 30 sailing, but it really doesn't make much sense why they wouldn't extend it a couple weeks or at least keep it on the same schedule as the Magic and Wonder.

We were told that they leave a treasure hunt map in your room and the kids go all over the ship looking for the treasure and at every spot they get candy from the staff.

Also on Oct 23 dream cruise this is so dissaponitng my kids already have costumes every cruise I went on in the past at this time had events thats what I get for assuming.
