When will the decorations be up? We are headed down at the end of Sept. right after the haunted manion opens back up, will the rest of the park be decorated as well?

Yes Fall and Halloween decorations will be put up at Disneyland in the middle of September and will be fully decorated for Halloween when Haunted Mansion Holiday opens on Sept. 26.

Halloween runs from Sept. 26th to Nov. 2nd this year, and it is truly one of the most magical times to visit DLR. Make sure to visit the ToT (which is extra spooky) and look for pumpkin fudge in the candy shops and pumpkin cream cheese muffins in the bakeries... both are absolutely delicious and only available for 5 weeks (give or take a few days) each year!

I agree with Cheshiregirl - Next to Christmas, the Halloween time of year is my favorite time to go. You will love all the decorations. DL only just started kind of going all out for Halloween a few of years ago - it is relatively new for them to do it up to this extent - and from what I hear, each year they add extra things here and there, and keep expanding the seasonal motif. I think the more they realize that people love the Halloween stuff and want to come to the park to see all of it, they start adding more decorations, more food (like the baked goods Cheshiregirl was talking about) and more Halloween merchandise (don't forget that, too - there are all kinds of nifty limited edition Halloween items, like the Vampire Mickey statuette I got last year). The pumpkin muffins I got at Blue Ribbon Bakery had a Mick-o-Lantern stuck in the top, and at first, I didn't realize it was actually edible because it was so hard. I thought it was a mini sculpture so I tried to protect it, until his ear broke off!

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait until we go :) We haven't told the kids yet, they keep asking to celebrate their birthday's there. And guess what, we are!!!!!!!

They won't be disappointed! Try to sneak in a character breakfast/meal if you can, as well. Goofy's Kitchen is my favorite because of the yummy buffet and atmosphere, but other members here prefer some of the other character meals.

will the HUGE pumpkin be up by the 17th (wed) ya think? I am so bummed they moved the halloween start date down by a week from last year.

That is a good question, because I don't know when exactly the pumpkin(s) went up last year, but I was there for the 'official' start of the Halloween season and it was earlier last year than I expected. You are right - this year, it is a week later. Maybe the giant Mickey pumpkin goes up before the rest of the decorations? Hmm...good question.
