Halloween Tour...did it!!!HERES THE REVIEW!!!

Don't worry, she goes off topic all the time. ;)

I love the old TZ episodes, I add them to my Netflix queue all the time. Some of them I don't like so much, but other are just great. I love all the twist endings!

I am a renegade - always going off topic!;) Some of the TZ episodes were dull - like some of the sort of 'western-themed' ones or the 'military-themed' ones - but the remaining 75% of them were excellent - just a little more tame than Night Gallery in theme!

I love the old Night Gallery shows.

They were great! They were dark and macabre and very '70s, don't you agree? They had cheesy special effects, but they had some twisted storylines with people dying awful deaths and things (non-graphically). I couldn't look at the TV screen for years when they aired their killer doll episode. That doll was so horrible-looking and evil, it gave me nightmares for a decade! I loved their hokey giant spider episode too! It made awful screeching noices! Eek!

Oh, I know what I wanted to ask Lynn - you mentioned eating at several yummy places like Wine Country Trattoria, Carnation Cafe, Naples, etc. Did you have good experiences at all of them? I am hoping your service at Carnation Cafe was better than mine! Which character meal do you prefer? I would like to try Minnie's soon, and I also want to try Steakhouse 55 - but I am not sure if breakfast or dinner would be better.

Sounds like Rachel was asking your group about the "Talking Tina" episode of Twilight Zone which was called "Living Doll." I am a Twilight Zone freak so I would have chatted them up endlessly about my favorite episodes - and "Living Doll" is a great one! The doll murders people! Rod Serling made some GREAT series, between Twilight Zone and Night Gallery! Some of the best TV ever!

thats the one....

Anyway, sorry, Lynn, to go off topic. I wil return you now to your regularly scheduled program!!

Don't worry, she goes off topic all the time. ;)

me too...does anyone remember the Dark Shadow that ran off of Night Gallery??? I had that board game and watched a few of them....I was into vampires way back then too..

I had good service with most of them...well the majority of them...the only bad one I had was at Naples...the server was the worst one Ive had in a LONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG time...well next to the server we had at mimi's sunday...every time we asked for something at Naples he would tell us "hold on a minute"...that became our theme of the night...and he couldnt even be bothered to grate parmesan cheese...he had it put on a plate and brought to us:rolleyes2...I ordered risotto with crab and shrimp and the only taste I could get from it was lemon...and a ton of lemon at that...ive always had good service at CC so I cant help you there...My favorite character meal is Minnie and Friends...I really enjoy the food there and like the fact that Im in the park, can get my own drinks as much as I want and good character interaction..they had eggs, omlet station, carved ham, buscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon, pastries, fruit (oh oranges, watermelon, canteloupe, green melon, grapes, strawberries) hashed browns, muffins, cake breads...it was all very good and the characters are minnie, capt hook, winnie the pooh, tigger, eeyore, piglet and Perla..I did do lilo and stitch at the Paradise Pier hotel and they had alot of hawiian foods as well as basic breakfast items...they had this salmon in a teriyaki sauce with sticky rice to die for...pineapple scones, omlett station, I had chorizo and eggs with flour tortillas (they brought them wrapped hot to my table)eggs with potatoes, linguica sausage, peppers and onions and cheese...and one that was egg whites, ricotta cheese, peppers, onions, and mushrooms...pancakes, mickey waffles, bacon, sausage, bagels with smoked salmon, tomatoes, onions, and capers...muffins, pastries, ham, it was good the characters were lilo and stitch, minnie, goofy, pluto, chip was there but he never ended up coming round to our table, I think he was leaving as we were coming in .....

we had breakfast at steakhouse 55 and there werent alot of people when we got there so it was quiet and we got good service...my dd had a chorizo and egg burrito..it came with eggs, chorizo, potato, beans, cheese and served with salsa, sour cream and guacamole...it was a HUGE burrito...she could only eat half...I had the eggs benedict with fried potatoes...now this was great...the ham had a great taste and the eggs were poached perfectly, leaving a little yolk runny just like I like it...the hollandaise was very fresh tasting and the whole thing had an underlying tone of butter throughout...it was delish!!..Wine Country Trattoria was awesome...I got the lasagna and it was fabulous...just the right amount of herbs with big chunks of ground beef and sausage...I ordered a dinner salad which was field greens, grape tomatoes, in a wine vinagrette dressing...and of course we all ate plenty of the bread sticks with sun dried tomato whipped butter...good service..I had very few complaints..the worst while there was Naples but the worst overall was Mimis...Ive never had bad service at that mimis so Im hoping this was a one time thing...he was just horrible...took him 15 minutes after we were seated to come ask for our orders and he hadnt even asked us for our drink order yet:headache: from there it was just down hill...took forever to get anything from him...just like with Naples...last month when we were there I had the best service I have EVER had down there in any place but Im also kind of over eating at Naples...theres just too many other things I like and dont want to pay out the bazoo for something thats hit and miss....

Hi Lynn,

I am right with you on so many of your opinions and experiences. Love Lilo & Stitch breakfast (and all the hawaiian items) and Steakhouse55. I also had that ginormous chorizo burrito and ate about half (man, was it good!) and DD had the wonderful eggs benedict. Service, food and atmosphere was wonderful there. It's a quiet, lovely way to start the day. Funny thing though, I don't care for dinner there. And speaking of dinner, we had two bad dining experiences at Naples. I will not go back. But the pizza/soda combo from their express window is tasty and a good deal, but I don't like to sit on a concrete slab or bench and eat, I want to be at a real table.:) Mimi's is delish, sorry you had such bad service.:guilty: And everything I have ordered at WCT is very good. Service has always been great, too.

We did the Halloween tour and enjoyed it quite a bit. At first I thought watching cartoons was dumb and our first guide, the "Ghostbuster" was not a very good actress and forgot a lot of her spiel and the first part was pretty hokey. When we got off of TOT and our "Ghost" CM "stole us from our tourguide" as she said, it got much better. Whe she passed out the necklaces, a kid about 8 ran up and tried to get one from her and she said "go away, you can go on the tour...tomorrow!" (or something like that). And then she asked us if it was kind of mean and we all said yes and she said "GOOD!". She was such a good CM, really into the part, telling us so many awesome stories and she was quite spooky. Her name was Hillary. The rest was about the same for us as your tour (except BTM was down so we had to skip it). I thought it was awesome when we boarded our Doombuggies and there she was with her parasail waving to us. My two complaints would be the beginning and having to wait in line. I mean, I would think we could be taken to the front - we were there on a busy weekend night and had to wait over 20 min for Snow White, argh! Oh and one last thing, we had an ECV in our group and I thought the CM's should have had her up front and everyone following, instead poor Cheryl kept getting caught in crowds and the rest of the group was way ahead. Sorry to ramble on and on, but wanted to reply. So, that's it, I am done for now!:flower3:

Hmm...I might have to try Minnie's. I mean, my friend and I are die-hard Goofy's Kitchen fans for 16 years and I doubt that will change, but I think some of the characters at Minnie's sound interesting, so I would like to squeeze it into a trip somewhere. You said that you have to get up and get your own drinks at Minnie's - they don't serve you? That is the one thing my friend may not like. She likes to just sit down and be served drinks because she is afraid of spilling!

Anyway, I kind of know what you mean about Naples. Here is the thing - most of the time they do have good food and we have had good service both times we ate there (but I did see kind of a young male waiter roaming around looking sluggish and I wonder if he waited on you), so I would certainly recommend them to anyone who had not been there yet. We never had an unpleasant experience at Naples at all. But once or twice eating there is kind of enough every couple of years, I think. It is good but not overwhelmingly good. I wanted to try their spaghetti and meatballs, so I may go back there one more time. I do think their smallest pizza is a pretty good size for being a 'small.' But I think I can skip Naples next DLR trip. I would like to go back to WCT again (I liked their meatball sandwich) but I don't think my friend liked it very much. And we have usually had good experiences at Carnation - I think it was just a little off this one time we went, but we will certainly go there again. I definitely want to add Steakhouse 55 to the list for one of these trips.

I know you were busy talking to Hillary, but it was Snow White we went on. :rotfl: ;)

And I agree, they should have put Cheryl at the front, Main St was such a nightmare!

I had a lot of fun doing the tour with you three! :goodvibes

Thanks, Wendy.
I get confused with all the princess names.:rolleyes1
You were a lot of fun, too and very tolerant of us "old women" in the group - HA! Think of how much fun we will have in March.:cutie:
