Will we be welcome to TOT-ing if we're not staying at FW (I can bring some bags of candy to give to someone who will be handing out candy so we can "give back")? What time do the festivities begin?

Thanks!

Sorry.

But, the trick-or-treating is exclusively for registered FW guests.

Please feel free to enjoy the activities provided at your resort, or at DTD.

OK, thanks. Didn't know this would be a sore subject...

Who's sore?

Anyone is welcome to make a reservation to camp at FW or stay in one of the cabins.

I'm sure your resort will have something nice for you to do, or you may join the many others who enjoy the activities at DTD.

Doesn't this

generally mean that someone is waiting for drama to ensue?

That's what I thought/meant when I said sore.

No.

I don't think so.

Anyway, you asked your question.

And, you have your answer.

No worries.

There are lots of fun things to do at WDW on Halloween.

I'm sure you will have a great time!

I have a great idea,, make ressies at the Fort, :thumbsup2

OMG, sometimes I amaze myself how smart I am, :woohoo:

leadfootlevi: Last year several of the FW regulars said they went to one of the big box stores and each bought 35 POUNDS of candy for FW Trick or Treat. There were so many people there they ran out. It's not possible to keep up with the volume of people who want to go to FW Trick or Treating.

Holy quacamole - that's a LOT of candy! How do you know who's a registered guest and who isn't?

Fort Wilderness KTTW cards have special identification numbers.

Because of problems in the past, there is extra security on Halloween night, and registered campers are asked to show their KTTW cards. These also must be displayed when entering each loop, and those staying at the campsites are instructed to ask for KTTW cards so party crashers and freeloaders can be identified and escorted off of the premises.

They recently upgraded the Fort Wilderness parking lot so all those entering can be identified.

Unregistered guests have been a problem in the past.

But are not any longer.

Because of past abuses, and complaints to management, the FW management has promised to be very proactive about prohibiting non Fort Wilderness guests from trick-or-treating this year. There will be Orange County Sheriff's deputies on duty. Unregistered guests wandering around in the dark present security issues, and FW management is addressing this issue.

Please enjoy the activities provided at your resort, or those open to all guests, like Downtown Disney.

My goal is to be at the fort next year for halloween. I see what you mean by unregistered guests wandering around in the dark. Sucks that it has to be that way, but I get it.

Have fun!

Yes, it is a shame.

The problem wasn't so much guests from other resorts.

It was people who weren't even staying on Disney property who just showed up to party and enjoy the generosity of FW guests.

Before this year, a big portion of the FW parking lot was designated as the "overflow" lot, and was not monitored in any way. On Halloween, the parking lot mysteriously filled up with cars with Florida tags and without resort ID's.

FW was packed. And, there were mobs of people walking around, blocking traffic, and causing problems.

Last year, a serious golf cart accident occurred because a golf cart was going to wrong way down a one-way loop. The exit from the loop was blocked by hoards of off-property visitors.

Like all resorts, FW was designed with a certain capacity in mind. When hoards of outsiders invade, there will be problems. Especially in the dark, and with guests who may have obstructed vision because of costumes. Throw in alcohol and crazy golf cart drivers, and you have a recipe for disaster.

FW management has already made changes, and hopefully this and future Halloweens will be safe and fun for registered FW guests.

Hopefully, when you are at the Fort as a registered guest next Halloween, you will have a great time.
