I also posted this on the community board but didn't get much of a response so I thought I would try over here.

We are going camping this weekend and they are having an early halloween weekend. I want to make a Halloween theme dinner for my DD and nieces on Saturday before trick or treating. The only thing I have come up with so far is mummy dogs (hot dogs wrapped in cresent rolls).
Anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks!

If you google halloween menu you will find a bunch of ideas.

Thanks I googled halloween themed food and didn't come up with much. Halloween menu came up with a lot more options.

Check out the recent issue of Disney's Family magazine, I think that's what its cdalled. I'm not sure why I got it, I never ordered it, but it has tons of cute ideas! Here is the website http://family.go.com/

You know dirt cups...pudding or ice cream topped with crushed oreos and decorated with Gummy worms? I've seen them made where Mint Milano cookies were tucked in to look like tombstones.

Many moons ago, Martha Stewart did a Halloween show where she recommended freezing water in a pair of plastic gloves - close the ends with rubber bands. When frozen, peel or cut away the plastic gloves and float the ghostly white hands in red punch. I don't know how well that would work with camping but it sure impressed my kids.

like a pp mentioned, i love the graveyard dessert for halloween. i never did it in the cup version, but i have made it in a glass baking dish. it is adorable and would be a very easy thing to make while camping.

it's always what i take for halloween parties, and it's always a huge hit! here's how i make it...

put already made chocolate pudding in baking dish and top it with "dirt"...crushed oreas. i usually just put the cookies in a plastic bag and smash them. then take milano cookies, break them in half, and place them in the "dirt" curved side up for the "tomb stones". you can even decorate the tombstones anyway you want. i went to ac moore and bought a "food friendly" pen and edible glitter flakes (black). this stuff will last a long time too...i've used the same supplies for the past several years. anyway, before putting the milano's in the pudding, i dipped the curved side in a tub of white icing and then dipped them in the black glitter. then i wrote RIP on the cookie part. one year, i even found gummy full body skeleton's and put them in the graveyard. hope you can kind of get a mental idea of what it looks like. i might be able to dig up a picture if you want. sorry so wordy!

I have made "eyeballs" for a party before. You make the sausage and cheese balls-the recipe can be found on Bob Evans website, it's ground sausage, shredded cheese, flour and milk, and then slice a stuffed green olive crosswise and press it into them before cooking. Serve with some "blood sauce" bbq. They are yummy, keep well and can be eaten warm (keep them in a crockpot after cooking) or cold and if people don't like olives, they can just pick the piece off.
