Halloween--Protect your pets!

I just thought I'd post this for anyone with pets.

Halloween is a dangerous time for pets. People do sick things to animals, especially around this time, all centered around animal sacrifice, devil worship, need I go on?

Please, keep your pets inside on halloween night, preferably keep them inside for a few nights before and after just to be safe.

We have 5 cats and they are all on "lockdown" from now until Sunday. They don't like it, keep crying to go out, but its for their own good. They have an inside litter box in the garage with pet door access.

At my kids Sunday School last Sunday they even recommended to keep your pets indoors. Especially a black cat, the possibilities are too horrific to even think of!

Animal shelters and pet stores won't even sell a black cat around Halloween, people do sick things with them. Any pet is vunerable right now!

Please lock up your pets!

Also, don't forget to keep your dogs away from the kids' chocolate - it can be fatal to a dog.

I second this completely cause I am a victim of lossing your pet on halloween. We had a Black Cat somehow he escaped from the house the night before and never returned. Part of me thinks no one could catch him, cause I was never able to catch him. I had to get him in the house leaving a trail of cat nip. He was a little kitten when I found him the day after hurricane andrew and had to feed him with a dropper. His name was Spookie and it fit him perfectly. He never adjusted to the puppy we got a month or so before Halloween. So I want to think he ran away to a new home but one never knows.

Just keep them inside so you never have to second guess yourself like I do.

I agree with this timely reminder! Our local news this past week has included a story about a black lab that was stolen from a fenced backyard. They found the dog's body, beheaded... but have not been able to locate the head. Some people are genuinely sick.

I'm going to the store to adopt a cat tonight! I filled out my paperwork a few days ago, and I was considering getting an all black one. I didn't even think of it being Halloween.

Very good reminder, though there are sick things that happen to animals all year round. So sad.

also, if you bring your dog treat or treating (I do). Watch them, lots of kids drop candy so I constantly have to take candy out of my dog's mouth.

On Halloween night I keep my cats in the back bedroom with it bathroom, keep food, water and put a litter box in the tub. They get nervous with the doorbell ringing constantly so I play the TV for them.

Just do what you can to keep them safe, people are sick!

I wasn't a victim but when my mother was about 10 or so, somebody took the family dog and hung him from the flagpole in the center of town! Why someone would hurt defenseless animals is beyond me and i am glad my 2 cats are strictly indoor(even though they try to claw their way out!).
