I would like to go back to Disney, and we are looking at October next year, but I'm a bit confused. I realise that you have to buy tickets for Mickey's Halloween party, but does this mean that on those dates we will have to leave magic kingdom early if we don't have tickets?
I ask because there are a lot of party dates in the two weeks that we want to choose, and I'm worried we will be chucked out of the park early on party days.
Thanks
Rach

In Oct the MK closes at 9pm on non party nights, on party nights 7pm so yes you lose 2 hours but there are over half the days without parties and it doesn't affect other parks.

If we are not attending a party we avoid mk as the tickets allow oarty goers in at 4pm so it gets quite busy.

yes but it's also much less busy before 4pm as many US guests don't have hopper, and do not go to MK on a party day.

So without a party ticket, MK is a very good park to visit, as long as you hit the park early in the morning and hop at the beginning of the afternoon.

Crowds are always light in the morning, but we found them to be even lighter on party days

Yes i meant to put that :-) we always do rope drop anyway as we can get so much done

Yes we found this too - if we do rope drop we're normally ready to leave by 4/5pm at latest so not too much impact.

One thing I would warn though is during Oct on the non-party nights the evenings are really busy in MK - as limited time for non-party goers to see fireworks etc. It's manageable as long as you accept that an evening in MK at that time of the year is for 'atmosphere', people watching whilst waiting for the parade (is it still called Spectromagic at night?) & fireworks. We didn't attempt to do any rides as park was so full moving about was quite difficult.

Thank you all, that's cleared that up.

Seems like a good deal then, can get OKW with DDP for same price as we paid last year. Hurray!

I always wondered how do they get all the non party goers out of the park at 7pm? And still let all the party ticket holders in at 7pm?
:confused3

We're going on 29th Oct. So can we get in before 7pm?

Unless its changed you get a wrist band on entry (entry with a party ticket is anytime after 4pm) at 7pm they won't let you on rides without a wristband, if they see people without wristband after 7pm they direct them to the exit.

at 7pm, non party goers will no longer be able to get in line for rides, or enter restaurants.
CMs will seal off the hub and Main Street.
No guest will be allowed to cross from Main Street and into a Land without a wristband.
Guests who are still inside the Lands will be requested to move towards the exit.
CMs will form lines acting as moving checkpoints, and will go from the far end of the land to the entrance of the land, effectively pushing non party goers toward the exit.

If you're a non party goer and are already inside a line for a ride, or inside a restaurant, you'll be allowed to ride, or finish your meal, but will be "escorted" out once you're finished.

Disney will let party ticket holders in at 4pm, and I highly recommand getting to MK early (4 or 5ish) to avoid the larger crowds at the entrance. Since many party goers will start arriving at 6pm or later.
