Halloween or Christmas

My kids really want to go to WDW in Oct. they love the weather and they rather do MNSSHP. Plus they want to go on the cruise with two stops at Castaway Cay. I know it sounds bad on my part, but I so wanted to see WDW during the holidays.
Is the MNSSHP worth it?
Not sure what to do. Should I go in Oct. or go during Thanksgiving? If we go during Thanksgiving I get to see the lights but no cruise.
Is it still magical during this time instead of the holidays?

We LOVE Halloween in the parks but it is my favorite holiday. I would do whatever is going to give you the most Disney time so I'd opt for October and the cruise.

I have done Disney at Halloween 2x and at Christmas once, so I've done both MNSSHP and MVMCP. I just booked my next trip for.....Christmas time. As much as I love the Halloween decor and events, I just love the Christmas stuff a tiny bit more.

Well Holloween happens to be my favorite holiday but I've noticed that those that like Christmas better still like the MNSSHP over MVMCP. MNSSHP has better music, better parade, better fireworks, warmer weather, and it's fun to dress up. So I vote for October and cruise.

We love MNSSHP and Halloween.While I love Christmas, I am not a fan of MVMCP..Plus I miss the Epcot Lights of Winter displays that they no longer do( though I love the castle lights)
