Halloween or Christmas at Disney?

I have also struggled with this decision. I think 2008 we are going to try Halloween time. Probably the week before Halloween just so the kids won't miss out on trick-or-treating at home with friends. My DH is really prohibited from taking days off in Dec , but for 2009, I would love to go for Thanksgiving, and stay a couple extra days in hopes that WDW will be decorated for Xmas that quickly.

When do they typically get the Xmas decorations up and running?

I am by no means experienced here. But from all the DIS reading I've done lately, it appears they start putting up Christmas stuff right after Halloween and finish right at Thanksgiving. So you should be there at a great time. Some of the posts from people who visited during that time commented on how you can visit the same place a day later and it looks completely different because they decorated that area overnight. pixiedust:

:confused3 Not in Orlando did they? We live an hour south of WDW in Tampa, & haven't approached anything close to snow in the 10 years we've lived here. Most of our DS's friends have never seen snow. That would be really exciting though.

I don't remember where it was exactly, but I do remember my CM friend telling me about it. He was working at AK on the dream squad at the time.I'm pretty sure it never hit the ground, just in the air kind of thing. My kind of snow. He lives in Polk City, but its been so long ago I don't remember where it was exactly. I do know that my DSIL said they didn't see any either and they live in Winter Springs.

We're going during both times this year and I can't wait! There are pros and cons to each.

I'm also a fellow DISer from Wisconsin! :wave2:

We are going to both this year also, found a great airfare and couldn't resist.:cool1:

I have never been during Halloween but have been early Dec. and loved it. We stayed at the GF and it was beautiful during Christmas time. I would definately do it again. The GF had a huge gingerbread house where you could buy cookies which made it kid friendly. :santa: I'm sure Halloween is a great time to go also.
