Just a few questions for those of you who have been
Do you remember when tickets went on sale last year?

We won't be able to get there til about 730 but plan on buying express passes to compensate
How bad is the line to get in
Probably going on a Thursday in early October

tickets went on sale in the early summer.

are you planning on oct 1 or 8th?

wednesdays are now hhn dates for the entire event and not just for mid oct to the end of the month.

you'll go through the metal detector but lines should be shorter when you arrive.
the big rush is for those that have been in line waiting for the 6:30 opening for hhn.

I went on opening night 2013 (Friday). I got express passes for us. The waiting line to get in was pretty long but after we got inside things were great. It really wasn't too bad at all. The next night, Saturday, was more crowded. We didn't get express passes for the second night....we saved that for rides and shows. It worked out very well!

Thank you
Actually we could go either we'd September 30 or Thursday October 1st
Do you think Wednesday would be better?

I really think the key is the express pass. When we went a few years back. It was insanely busy...but because we had express pass we did get to all the houses and the shows in one night. I felt so bad for the folks in the other lines, it was awful! I'd never go without express passes. Now in 2013, on opening night, a Friday....it wasn't that bad. So who knows. Just get express passes, the $ difference is worth it.

september would be less crowds.
but, oct 1st, i wouldn't expect it to be too bad either.

the first week is not bad for crowds.
once the media leaves on opening night, front crowd in the park is gone.

second week, average attendance (sept-first part of oct) is doable.

if you have not gone before and concerned of doing everything in the park, houses, shows, scare zones and eat, the ep would guarantee you won't miss out on a thing.

there are many locals that will buy the hhn monthly admission pass that is valid for non peak nights.

in the past, another hhn pass is the one that is valid for the first 10 nights of the event.
if those have high sales, then you will see more in the parks at different times during the event.

without the ticket prices being released, really can't say how the entire month will be for low, average or high attendance.

the ep is a different ticket.
last 3 years i bought the pass for the non peak nights and ep as a bundle.
paid for hhn fridays with the ap discount

this is new this year for having all the wednesdays open for hhn.
last year i did the first wednesday for hhn and crowds were low that night.

have to remember that wed and thurs are during the average work week.
some don't show up until after work, some don't go due to work the next morning.

only see wednesday when its hell week having more at the event those nights.

Hi there! I was just wondering what to expect as well. We are going the LAST week in October to Disney and are going to hit Universal only one of those days. No real intrest in HHN, but is it going to be nuts on the non HHN because that's when everyone else will be going??? It's our first trip ever and want to have a great time and do as much as possible! What night should we go???

Studios isn't any extra busy during the day on a HHN day to any other. It does get busier later into the afternoon with people doing stay and scream.

You will have to have cleared the park by 5pm if you are not doing HHN.

IOA will be open later than 5pm.

Choose whichever days suits you best. Weekends will always be busier.

Thanks! But do you think one of the NON HHN will be busier? Or a better day to go? We were going to do the Wednesday but now I'm considering Tuesday because that will be a non-HHN day. Maybe it's six of one half dozen of the other??

tuesday would work fine.

the october hours haven't been posted yet.

if you see the studios staying open later than 6:00, i'd go for tuesday for that day visit.

This is the best advice anyone can give on HHN. I've gone the last 3 years...in 2012, I didn't use the express pass, but in 2013 and 2014 I have. It's a completely different experience. Turns 2+ hour lines into 5 to 20 minute lines. This is a must...

i never do hhn without having the express pass.

i see it like auto insurance.
you can get away with just the basic liability for a lower cost but get the total car insurance plan just in case you need it.

it's available when most needed.

Exactly!

I'm not going this year, unfortunately, but will go in 2016. I usually don't do daytime Universal when I do go but in 2016 I'm going to combine both and stay onsite. Really looking forward to planning that trip! I will buy the ticket for more than one night and go maybe 4 or 5 nights! It will be crazy!

I'm a gambling sort. Have never bought it for early Thursday or Sunday's in October

After experiencing the lines last year I would strongly recommend purchasing it if ur budget allows

That said, mac I'm still going cheap this year thus far unless I hit in Vegas lol:duck:
