Just curious where that was...when we were there I don't recall seeing any area where you had to pay extra to get pics.
We got our pics with all four icons after the Arrival show. It would take place several times per night and at the end all four icons (as well as Darkness and his "assistants") would come out for photos.
I wonder if the popularity of that in the first few weeks led to them setting something up later in the month to squeeze a few more bucks out of people.![]()
I noticed people take pics with some of the scareactors. I never bought in my camera. Because, I felt it would take away from the others trying to enjoy HHN. Without all the flash going off. But, I want to get a picture with Jack. How do I go about doing that? Is it ok, if I hug him?? Or is there no touching absolutely?
My DW & I go to HHN every year. We ask whoever scare actor, if we can take a pic w/ them & they all say YES! super nice people.

Can you guys post info about the tours? How to book, price, etc.. Thanks! We are probably going October 4th and staying at the Hard Rock that night. Really excited as I loved Nightmare on Elm Street growing up.![]()
Melissa - That was one of the greeters at "The Body Collectors" that year. I remember that house being about the goriest I had ever seen during HHN.
This is all I've seen so far and not sure how accurate this is but...here ya go:
Nightmare on Elm Street house located in Soundstage 23 (ScreamHouse 3).
Friday the 13th house located in JAWS Queue (Dungeon of Terror).
Clown/FunHouse in Tent 2 (Psychopath).
Texas Chainsaw Massacre house in Earthquake Queue (RUN).
Thanks LeoMagic, Akdar, and Greystroke for your answers about the pictures.
Greystroke, how much are the photo ops with the characters? I am thinking 20 dollars, with the picture. Am, I right, or is my guess low?
Macraven-I want to do the tour, but my cousin, is undecisive, she doesnt know if she will be able to come up with the extra money. Oh well, maybe next year.

greystroke, the rip tours has not been disclosed to the public yet.
the website is not up yet and should not be posted to the public until it has been.
once it is posted, then no problem listing it here.

A moderator who works and who is heavily involved with HHN at Universal posted that information on the Vault yesterday after they were notified that the tours were now booking.

The Thing:Assinilation
Universal Orlando confirmed with Screamscape this afternoon the existence of The Thing Assimilation as one of their most creative haunts this year. We were fortunate enough to chat with T.J. Mannarino (Director of Entertaiment Design) and Michael Burnett (Prosthetics and Makeup Supervisor) who both revealed a long time love for this classic film that will be celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year. It was interesting to note that theyve actually talked about bringing The Thing to life in a variety of forms over the years, but they felt that this year the time was right.
While they were not willing yet to officially announce the location of the of the haunt yet, they did tell us that the events of the story they are trying to tell takes place in todays world in Florida, 25 years after the events took place in Outpost 31. From the sounds of things soon after the events in the film took place, teams were sent in to recover, analyze, catalog and put into storage whatever they could find to determine just what had happened before the arctic base was abandoned. Today the remains of Outpost 31 have been reopened for new scientific study in a new industrial base theme, as they try to harvest whatever information they can from the remains of the creature.
True to the film we will see many classic creatures return such as the severed head with the spider legs and possibly the infected dog. However its been 25 years and the creature has had time to evolve into all new forms as well. They promise you will encounter creatures of all shapes and sizes and as you can see in the images to the right, their creature shop is already hard at work.
Theyve done their homework before starting off on this task as well, pulling up reference material from the shooting of the film, the plans for the sets and creatures, as well as talking with people who were involved in the creation of the original film. Unlike other houses that are populated by people who jump out and scare you, The Thing will also be full of new creatures run as puppets by human operators rather than automated machines triggered by motion sensors.
If youve seen the film, you know how the elements of fire and ice fit into the story and there will be effects involving both in the attraction, as well as a conflict between other elements such as technology vs. strength.
The have a true love for The Thing and they really want to bring it to life to tell their all new story. In fact one of the first decisions they made was that they needed to keep the same style of ominous soundtrack score that the film was known for and is immediately recognized by any fan of the film. Those long synthesizer droning notes punctuated by a digital sounding heartbeat go a long way to setting up a great atmosphere for terror. I know I cant wait to see it myself
