Hey guys! I just upgraded my Express Pass for HHN to the RIP non-private tour. I can't find too much information on it but I thought maybe it'd be fun since we've never been but LOVE Halloween. I saw that you get a bit of detail before entering the house and all that stuff... but can anyone tell me more about it? I can't seem to find a lot out there.

Thank you for your help!

I'll tell you about what to expect and the routine later

Presently shopping and can't write much pushing a buggy/cart

Back later today
I love talking about the tours

What is your date for it?

Thank you! I really appreciate it. We are going October 26th.

It doesn't last the entire night. You will get VIP entrance into each of the houses once. It is usually a pre-determined route the guide will take you on. Your lanyard acts as express after the tour ends, I don't think it works for the houses though. Mac will correct me on that when she has the time, I'm sure. I've only done a private, so this is mainly what I've heard from other people.

I don't remember getting detail on the houses when I did the private one, but we already knew all the info going in. Our guide did try a little, but it was more the basic story of the house. If you do the Unmasking the Horror tour, you get more information about the design of the house and such.

Thanks! I was told it was 5 hours on the phone but it seems that they were giving me a much higher number just in case?? I'm just really excited about all of this. I want the best experience possible!

Depending on how busy I guess it could take 5 hours. Even though we were VIP, we still had to wait a couple of minutes at a few of the houses. That and depending on the speed of walking of the entire group, probably a bathroom break or two as well. I don't know if they do rides on the non-private, but I know we did two(?) on the private (Simpsons and Jaws, before it closed)

I've done the non-private RIP HHN tours 2 times now and already paid for it this year.

Basically the tour allows you to follow your guide to the front of the line at all the houses, often taking a different path to get to the front of the line. That gets you in without a wait. I've done HHN with an express pass and the RIP tour is much better but is also twice the cost, even with the annual pass holder discount. Note: Everyone in your party can get the AP discount, even if you are the only one with the AP. That applies to the HHN tickets too. My wife and I are going with another couple and they saved about $100 on their HHN ticket and RIP tour as I'm an AP holder.

The tour lasts about 5 hours but it depends on how fast your group moves, how long they take at potty breaks, and which time slot you pick. (There are 7pm, 7:30pm and 8pm)

The time slot is important as during your tour, you will have VIP seating at the Halloween show (Bill and Ted) as I recall. Depending on which tour you get, you may have to wait slightly longer for the show to start. Also, if you do a later tour, you will have less time on the rides before the park closes.

After your RIP tour, your tour tag acts as an unlimited express pass on the rides that are open at Universal Studios. It does not permit you to use the express pass lines at the houses. Note: It is an unlimited express pass, unlike the regular express passes being sold that night, meaning you can use it more than once at each ride.

I am wondering how you upgraded the Express Pass to Non-Private tour? I bought the Express for DD and DH for their party night and wished after I had booked them on the tour instead. I didn't think I could upgrade. If I can I would love to do that and surprise them :).

Thanks! So we only get to see the one show, Bill and Ted's right?? I saw that today they announced a second show. Now I'm worried we won't see both if I'm on the tour - but I guess I really wouldn't see EVERYTHING without this tour anyways so I should be happy with what I get. :)

Also one other question - I was told there are snacks at check in??? That's what the guy told me on the phone anyways. Should we still plan on eating elsewhere? I'm guessing so beforehand?

Thanks so much for your tips. Definitely excited about the unlimited pass! :D

I just called the phone number for the tours from the website and with my reservation number I was able to get a refund and purchase the RIP tour instead. No problems at all!

There is no way you will see all houses and both shows without doing the RIP Tour. Depending on how late your tour goes, there is a good chance you will still have time to see the second show as well.

The waiting area for the tour is above the Guest Services area and has a bar that in addition to drinks, sells snacks like chips and candy. I don't remember seeing any sort of actual food, free or not.

I'd suggest eating before you go on the RIP Tour as you won't have a chance for a real meal for at least 4 to 5 hours. While there are breaks on the tour to buy snacks and drinks, it isn't a meal.

Great! Thank you for the information. I really appreciate it. We will make sure to eat before then. I think we'll try to get into that Simpsons holding area? Sounds like we'll be able to eat and wait til the park opens for HHN then head over to check in for the tour.
