Halloween Horror Nights!! R U Goin???

I have a question. After reading the HHN site I'm gathering Jack, The Caretaker, Storyteller and The Director have been their own theme each year? Is this the first year they will all be appearing together?

Sorry, its my first HHN.

Yep. The Storyteller was the most recent "icon", the Director was 2004, The caretaker 2003 & 2002, and I Jack was sometime before that...(my memories a little fuzzy about him...). 2001 maybe? possibly earlier though.

This will be the first HHN to feature all four past icons (actually there are some other icons, and it's subject to much rumor and conjecture right now as to whether they may make an apparance this year).
Although last year's event featured the storyteller, Jack was also around in some areas...mostly just to annoy people I think :)

do you have the site to buy them and can you buy express for sat sept 30 is their an annual pass discount
maria

not sure this has been answered yet, if yes...just skip over this post...
You can buy Express passes for the 30th...but I don't believe there's an AP discount..(at least not that I've found)...but their is a discount for the HHN admission tickets.
Just go to offical site www.halloweenhorrornights.com/orlando
in the ticket section, there should be an "annual passholder" option, you'll need you AP # and your pin code to access & order the discount prices though.

These are HHN's icon characters:

1995 - Cryptkeeper
2000 - Jack
2001 - Eddie (Jack's little brother. He's not mentioned by name because he never actually appeared at the park that year due to 9/11, so he's less known and publicized than the others. The "reject icon" if you will. He will, however, be in Run this year and can be seen on the house's logo.)
2002 - Caretaker
2003 - Director
2005 - Storyteller

The Director scared the hell out of our daughter with the way he 'framed' his shots with his fingers and thumbs.

Busch Gardens' event is called Howl-O-Scream if you're looking for info on the web.

What is the MINIMUM age to take a child/teen to HHN ? I have a 10.5 year old that loves scary stuff and the pictures I have seen on the web dont look that bad. She watches a lot of Buffy and those pictures dont look any worse than some of the creatures in Buffy! Is it possible for 1 parent to wait outside whilst the other goes in the Haunted houses or is there loads of scare actors outside too ?

I wouldn't take anyone under 13 or 14, but that's just me. Yes, there are scarezones outside of the houses, although it seems as if they're avoidable this year.

Thanks. I wish USO would stick a minimum age on the event. It would make it easier to explain to the kids why they cant go.

I have to agree...even the age limit was as young as 10 or 12, it would help SO much...
I feel bad for the terrified kid...but I also feel bad that my experience (especially in a haunted house I waited an hour to see) was ruined by a screaming child because there parents didn't care enough about their kid to keep them away from a potentially traumatizing event.

There is absoulty no excuse for bringing a 5 year old to such an event. Reputible babysitting services are plentiful in orlando, and I doubt that it would cost much more than the price of the child's ticket.

HHN is advertised as PG-13. It says everywhere that this event may be too intense for young children. There is also no child's ticket price for this reason. Nobody under age 10 should go to HHN, unless they're ones who can handle the gore/scare/gruesomeness.

Sorry to disagree but it does not state on the website for 13 + . Just that it may be too intense for young children. My youngest kids are borderline, they do not scare easily. My 10.5 year old is more a scaredy cat than 9 yr old sister :confused3

You're right, it is not listed as PG-13, but should be considered as such.

After reading trip reports and reviews on many websites regarding HHN, popular opinion is NOT to take the kids. I have a 13 year old thats itching to come with us and I think he may be OK but he's young and he has many years to experience something he just may not be ready for.

Watching Buffy on TV is not a good comparison to a live in your face HHN event. I'm sure some kids can handle it but I have no doubt it would be better to wait until you arent questioning whether it would be OK or not.

Since all kids handle fear differently I can see that it would be impossible to stick a minimum age on HHN. How to explain why they cant go? Cause I'm the parent and I said NO. :teeth:

I did a google search "halloween horror nights not for kids" its amazing what turns up.

scare zones and haunted houses aside, it's just got a mature theme to it. there's sexually suggestive aspects along with the gore and scares. not to mention a lot of drinking by the guests. it's not just people popping out and screaming at you. it's very immersive and hits all of your senses at once. you haven't lived unless you've walked through a house and seen fecal material smeared on the walls, and the smell pumped in to make it more realistic.

that being said, my daughter has been going with us and the same friends since she was 11. we take the same group to HOS and HHN each year, because I know they can handle it.

right on the opening page for orlando's hhn at the bottom in a red outlined box is a warning that does say the event may be too intense for young children. it has become pretty much common knowlege over the years that hhn is pg13 if not pg15 or 16 event. Every year I see people walking around with babies, toddlers and very young children and it is very disheartening. These people just dont seem to take the warning seriously. Over the years the powers that be even decided to finally stop selling children's priced tickets and yet people still dont seem to get the clue and not bring their little kids.

If my parents would have taken me to HHN as a child, I would have freaked out and never gotten over it. heck, I could barely handle it when I was 30!

it all comes down to being a good parent and having an idea of what the kids can handle. we warmed our daughter up with the free nights at HOS. since it's free for us, we could walk out any time. we started her and her friends out with the scare zones and moved to the houses.

it's like learning to ride a bike, you never push them past their limits.

i can't imagine any adult paying the adult price for littles to attend hhn.

since no children priced tickets are sold for hhn, why would any family want to pay the adult fee?

Well any child over the age of 9 pays adult prices at all the themeparks during the day already. Honestly, my kids would have probably loved HHN by the age of 10 but every child is different. As long as the parent goes to HHN being informed of the adult behavior and knows what to expect and is prepared to leave if it is too intense for their child, then I am fine with bringing kids.
