Halloween Horror Nights 2010?

I just can't fathom how busy everyone says it is. People really wait in line 60-90 minutes per house? I don't get it. I am going three nights and will not wait more than a half hour for anything.

I wonder what the AP discounted rate will be?

:confused3 but I'm waitin' to find out.....

Also, I think a lot of the confusion is coming from people thinking "Stay and Scream" is an actual ticket you purchase.

Stay and Scream is something you DO....not purchase. Lots less confusing to think of SnS that way ;)

That's doable if you get here for Stay and Scream. Do the one or 2 early houses they let you into then make a beeline for a few others, stopping when the lines get too long for you. The next night do the ones you missed. The third night do the ones you enjoyed best the first 2 nights.

People really wait 60-90 minutes or even more.

Unless you use Stay and Scream (have a park ticket and HHN ticket, be in park before it closes, etc) you will probably not see a wait under 30 minutes, and even with SnS you will only be able to do 2-3 houses like that.

Now if you have Express Pass, it is a completely different story, but once people start coming in, there probably won't be a house at 30 minutes or below, at least in my experience.

But if you do stay and scream for three days, you probably can get it done.

Last year, we only did two houses, and saw one show (Bill & Ted), but still had a great time just walking around the Scare Zones - I think I enjoyed them more than the houses, to be honest.

Do what the others have suggested...Stay & Scream is vital for getting a jump on the lines. Otherwise you will be coming in with the hoards of people and the wait times will jump dramatically. My first HHN was in 2004 and I remember lines exceeding 120 minutes by 10pm...and I'm not kidding. Since you are going for three nights, do all the houses the first night and leave the shows for the other nights. Don't ride any rides during HHN...you can do those during the day.

Yeah, I'm doing S&S each time. 30th, 3rd, and 7th. Actually, the only time I'll be on the studios side will be for HHN. I'm planning on spending almost all of my four days at IOA. If all of the lines are too long for me, I'll ride some rides until I'm ready to leave. Might buy express for the last night if I'm really enthralled at the houses and need to see them all again. Probably wouldn't spend more than $40 though.

That's a wise plan. In the past I've seen EPs sell for $25.00 for the once through the line pass and single EPs for $5.00 in the S & S area. Those were the "unadvertised" specials and weren't always available. With S & S you can easily do a minimum of four houses before the lines start to get long.

Sorry, because I'm sure this has been covered but what are the actual hours for HHNs?

Off peak nights (Sunday & Thursday the hours are 7pm-12midnight and peak nights (Friday & Saturday are 7pm to 1am)...they could be changed this year but we'll have to wait and see.

Last year the attractions open were: MIB, The Simpsons and Revenge of the Mummy. The wait times varied from about 10 minutes to 60 minutes but not usually longer than that. It depends on the house location that determines which rides will be open. I expect those three to be open and possibly the Rockit (if they get the nets up) but some rides won't be open due to their queues being used for part of the houses.

Looking at last year's event guides, off peak shows 6:30pm to 12:00am and Friday/Saturday shows 6:30pm to 2:00am.

And Jaws was also running last year.

Yeah...I couldn't remember if it was 1am or 2am on peak nights.

We'll be in IOA/USO for one day in October, and if it happens to fall on an HHN we are definitely NOT staying as I'm a scaredy cat. So do both parks close for this on the same nights and how early do they close?

Typically, HHN only occurs in US. I believe once, they had it just in IOA; and another time, they used both parks. If it's only in US, US will close earlier than normal (5pm instead 7pm I think), while IOA stays open until it's normal close time.

However, this is HHN 20th anniversary, so there are rumors that both parks may be used, but nothing official has been reported. Information is now starting to leak out and hopefully we should know which park will be used by the end of this month.
