 We have booked to go to the HHN on the 31st October and will have kids aged 8, 9 and 11 in tow.

After reading a few threads it seems more scary than we initially thought - has anyone been, if so, what is it like and do you think the kids are too young?

Many thanks:confused:

I was thinking the same thing, but after reading the discussions on the US site, my fears are somewhat calmed. Especially as we intend to take our two an a half year old. I am more concerned with the flight over there.

Hi :)

I have been to HHN twice and was scared both times - I am the sort of person who doesn't like Horror Film's. What surprised me the most was the number of children there who was enjoying it.

Although there were a family of four with two children Boy aged 13 and girl aged 11/12, now the girl was petrified and the scare actors didn't seem to know when to leave her alone.

Only you know your children best and what they would be frightened of. Have you seen the official site?

As Kaylee said,it really depends on the individual kids.We went in October 2001 & 2002.The first time mine were 11,14 & 16,then obviously 12,15 & 17.

The eldest two said it was their favourite thing on the whole holiday both times. It is an amazing night.

My youngest was scared of the scareactors and even when he was genuinely scared and screaming,as Kaylee said, they didn't back off and leave him alone.I thought surely they can tell the difference between a kid screaming and being scared and an adult/teenager screaming and loving it! Luckily the first time I was on a VIP tour, and when Mattie refused to go in a maze,we went in and left him with the tour guide. When we came out we were amazed as he had gone in with her afterwards. What she had done is call a scareactor over in to a quiet area, ask him to show DS his face under his mask and that he was a 'normal' person.after that he was away and never looked back, and although screamed and was scared it was in a good scared.

Shrek36D, you will know best how your kids will be.Just tell them before you go and constantly remind them that there are people under the costumes and they are acting! If they are up for it they will love it even at their youngish ages!

Piemanxi,I would have concerns anout taking a child your child's age.It was much more crowded last year at IOA, I did see some toddlers in pushchairs there but it was far more manic and I saw more rowdiness.Do you have someone you could leave your child with?

Well i've got tickets to go the 23rd of Oct looks great. As for kids i'm not to sure if its a good idea JMHO. This is from the website quote ..... This event may be too intense for young children. Adult discretion is strongly advised. There are no child ticket prices for this event.

jj........

Thanks Kazzie

I meant MNSSHP and not HHN. However we really want to go to HHN but have no one to look after our daughter, any suggestions??

Thanks for the advice - when we initially got the tickets we thought that the kids would be able to dress up as well.

Looks like we got it wrong big time!!

Never mind - I am sure the rest of the holiday will help the kids recover and allow their hair to return from white to its natural colour before they go back to school!!

Cheers

Shrek

Phew Piemanxi thank goodness for that,MNSSHP will be lovely I'm sure.

Shrek36D,just remind your kids that the scary peole are only acting and it is a game.If you have any problems I'm not if maybe you could approach a 'normal' member of staff and ask if they could find a scareactor who could take the time to demystify themselves for you like one did for my DS:p

I hope you both have a great time:bounce: :Pinkbounc
