I am travelling from the UK last 2 weeks in October and plan to do Disney and Universal parks as we are there for 2 weeks. My son is 9 (almost 10) and we are planning on doing MNSSHP and US/IOA Halloween Horror Nights - my son has seen videos on youtube of these and thinks they both look great!!!
Is BTTH the only ride that has been closed to make way for a new ride - in either disney or universal?
We have also been told about a place called "the Boulevard" where everyone dresses up for halloween here - is this just halloween night or before as well, also where is it exactly??
Any further info would be much appreciated

i suggest you stick with disney for the mnsshp for your 9 year old son.
he can dress up in costume for it and trick n treat there. he would enjoy that.

halloween horror nights is not for children. 9, 10 11, 12 for most, is way too young for the entertainment that is presented.

no children tickets are even sold for this event. only adult tickets sold.
it has a mature rating and posted in many places graphic content can be involved.

i would never subject a young child to hhn.

no one can wear a face mask or dress up in costume at hhn.
there is no trick or treating. it has scare zones and houses themed to the years event. most rides are open.

disney does not sell alcohol at their halloween event. universal has a beer stand before and after each house besides the girls selling jello shots throughout the park.

i would stick with disney's halloween party for the child's sake.

There are no costumes at Halloween Horror Nights allowed. They had a place last year where you were able to have your pictures taken with "scareactors" from years past. But you were not able to dress in costume.
The youtube vids make HHN seem fun, which it is, but it is not, its for adults.
I will probably get yelled at again, but if you want to get a little taste of the intensity of HHN, then listen to the HHN Spooktacular episode of IOACentral Radio which you can do at www.myspace.com/ioacentralradio and click on episode 4, just below the current episode.
I highly recommend going to MNSSHP with your 9yr old, not HHN.
Also check out halloweenhorrornights.com for info on the event itself. Its depicted fairly well there, and gives an idea of what to expect.
