Halloween Fantasy On The High Seas - Eastern October 24th 2015

Just moved a Dec 2014 booking to this sailing - I'm Tracey and will be cruising with my husband, Scott.

This will be our third Disney cruise total - but our first "normal" one... the other two were Sep 2011 Alaska and May 2013 Panama Canal. It will also be our first experience with a "big boat" as the other 2 cruises were on the Wonder.

We're currently in GTY status for an 11C cabin - wondering if the "magical porthole" cabins are still popular enough that we might get upgraded to an oceanview... any thoughts?

Welcome!:welcome:

Hi Tracey, I'm glad you joined us. The more the merrier and we can all count down and get excited for this trip together!:grouphug:

You'll be amazed at the new boat compared to the Wonder.
I wouldn't doubt if you did get offered an upgrade, but even if you don't you'll love your porthole room. So I've heard, I've never actually had one.

Thanks for the welcome, Scouter!
We're kind of looking forward to seeing the "magical porthole" & Deck 2 actually was our preference, so if we end up with what we booked, I'll be satisfied.
At the same time, we wouldn't complain about a free upgrade to oceanview, I suppose! :D

I am a little apprehensive about the size of the Fantasy. We were so spoiled with the two weeks we spent on the Wonder during the Panama repo cruise, since the ship was only about 2/3 full - any thoughts on how busy the Fantasy will be for this sailing?

Mr Underdog a.k.a. Mike, should be able to better answer this as he and his wife go on a couple of Disney cruises a year (something like that).
Anyway, what is good is going in October, not too many people want to take their kids out of school so it's not as bad as summertime. Although, I was one of those parents who DID take my son out of school to cruise around then as when he was younger I couldn't get a summer week off from work and the fall season is much cheaper too.

But there's so many cool things on board, like my favorite being the magic art on the walls and the game you play with it. It's fun for kids and adults!

I'm excited beyond belief! My poor BF though is stuck listening about it for over a year and Disney is not his favorite thing in the world. Hiking, camping and fishing are:rolleyes::crazy2:

Don't we wish! But this cruise will be our 11th as we decided to sneak in #10 in 11 days!! :beach:

As far as upgrades, we've booked the GTY cabins in the past and had some success in getting free upgrades. :thumbsup2. One cruise we were booked GTY inside and got a "free" porthole and another cruise we got upgraded to another inside cabin up on deck 7. I do believe your chances are better on these Oct sailings as Rose mentioned many people wont take kids out of school, plus its still technically Hurricane season which deters some people from sailing then. (although we've cruised in Oct 5 times and only got diverted once because of an impeding storm.):crazy2:

as for the size of the Fantasy, we were worried about that too but you adapt real fast and once you're onboard you really don't even notice there is a difference. (at least we didn't)

Thanks Dyerneeds for the feedback on the GTY likelihood of upgrades & Fantasy vs Wonder.

I've dug out my Passporter Disney Cruise guide & will be poring thru the Big Boat sections to see what-all we've got to look forward to!

:lmao: No, not really.... my husband and I host a Disney fan podcast. I don't think I can post the link, but search for Disney, Indiana on Google and you can find out more about it.

Heading to the Indy Disney Meet tomorrow - check out the DISMeets forum for more info - this will be our third time attending & always enjoy it.

Hi Paola!

Welcome!:welcome:

Congrats on finding the DIS boards to help plan your cruise, get tips and meet fellow cruisers! I think the DIS is a goldmine forum:thumbsup2

I've added you to our first page of who's who.
I'm Rose and I'm traveling with Bob, my SO. Our kids are grown and won't be traveling with us. This will be my 6th Disney cruise and Bob's 3rd.
How about you?
