Do you decorate for Fall & Halloween, then Thanksgiving?

I am switching out my summer flowers to Mums and adding little Scarecrows, will shuffle in Halloween shenanigans and then remove those and replace with Turkeys, Cornucopia and such. When I plugged in the lights I used last year one set crackled then went out so glad I checked, I figured it would be easy to get a new set of lights, this early, maybe change some stuff around. Boy, was I wrong, where in the world did all the fun Halloween stuff go? Normally there are so many cute things I can't even pick but this years it is the same sad lights in undesirable arrangements no matter where I look and the selections are really thin. I suppose my quest has begun.

I decorate for Halloween first. About 2-3 weeks before Halloween. I live in the South and it's still pretty hot here and can still be hot by the time Halloween rolls around. I put up 2 Halloween wreaths I got from Michael's years ago...big eye balls, etc. (I have double doors). We have a large witch that stirs a cauldron and cackles when you walk by and some headstones. I would put spider webs all over but I don't think I'm doing that this year. When Halloween is over, I switch out my wreaths and have two large fall topiaries on either side of my doors. I have two very large planting pots on the sides of my front steps/porch and I already put mums in. Got them from Costco and they're huge, fills the entire pot. I was hesitant because I thought it may be too early to get them but I took a chance.

I decorate for fall after Labor Day. Add some Halloween items with a few swap outs Oct 1. And then swap out Halloween specific items for Thanksgiving Nov. 1 which stays up until somewhere between the weekend after Thanksgiving and Dec 1 depending on our plans.

I decorate for fall somewhere around October 1st.

For fall this year, I’ll probably decorate some time next week, so it’s all out & decorated by the weekend.

At the same time I put out the fall decor, I also put out Halloween-specific decor.

And, then, on November 1st, I trade out the Halloween-specific decor for Thanksgiving-specific decor.

I decorate for Halloween and Fall. I will probably do it next week. Once Halloween is over, I will remove the Halloween decorations, keep the Fall and add some Thanksgiving decor. It’s a process. 😁

I have a few little Halloween things I put around the house, and my Haunted Mansion stuff that stays out all year. I usually start Christmas a week or so after Halloween so it’s all up by Thanksgiving. I don’t do anything outside and do not hand out treats, not that there are many little kids in our neighborhood anymore.

Most definitely!! We are fulltime RVers though and as we sit in our Autumn wonderland with leaves falling, it is the decorating season! The campgrounds we are at during this season usually have decorating competitions and we love getting set up and it helps us prepare for our display when we get to the Fort for Halloween!! LOL

I used to love to decorate for Halloween, but now all the stuff is so seriously creepy that I don't like to anymore. Our neighborhood gets way too gory. Hard pass and on to Thanksgiving.

I go all out decorating for Halloween…lights, skeletons, coffins, gargoyles, life size skeleton horse pulling a hearse, animated witches, graveyard…you name it - I got it! I also decorate my living and dining rooms…then Nov 1 - I switch over to Thanksgiving decor…mostly pumpkins and mums.

I change my tablecloth and flower arrangement every season, so tomorrow I'll swap out the summer stuff for fall stuff. I usually decorate for Halloween about three weeks before, and Thanksgiving right after that. I usually put Christmas up around December 1.

Our Thanksgiving is actually three weeks before Halloween. We don't do Halloween. I put my harvest stuff out the first week in October and take it down when it's all been frozen solid (usually early/mid-November).

We decorate the windows a bit, but might not this year. Last year there were no trick-or-treaters in my neighborhood, so no point to it, really. Christmas is when we go all out and do up the entire house.

You are right, there is a lot of icky gore in the mix and this is definitely not my scene.

About 10 years ago I would walk into a store and could find so much I'd have to let things take turns year after year, but recently all my cute things are breaking and supply is dwindling, I'm gonna be crafting my own things soon.
