DH and I along with my in-laws are heading down there in a little under 3 weeks and leaving WDW on 9/28. Of course, we wished that we had waited to book our trip in Oct. but I couldn't wait that long. We had originally booked in March and had to cancel due to DH's kidney stone issues so waiting that extra month just wouldn't do it - I'm sure you can relate.
Does anyone know if they put up Halloween decorations early at the end of Sept. or do staff get everything prepared overnight? We would love to feel the Disney Halloween magic at least once before we leave - any ideas???

There really aren't Halloween Decorations, per se. That is ... they don't deck out the park like they do for Christmas. Most of the decor package is only done for MNSSHP, and on Halloween weekend itself. During the rest of the month, you might notice a bit more of an "autumn" look to the place, but it's not like the parks go full-out Halloween. It's not like Christmas.

They decorate the park everyday for the evenings MNSSHP...but there aren't any other decorations around...

You might see some cornstalks, hay bales, and pumpkins throughout MK during the day but the Halloween stuff comes out at night for the party.

You know what is crazy?? I went to Kmart today and they had all of their Halloween costumes and decorations out, I guess it is almost about that time.

Being a Halloween nut I was a little disappointed in the lack of decorations.

Hi Hockey Mom...

I hope you are getting ready for your trip...
Just remember to send me a picture of the family when you get back. Talk to you soon.

What was the first year for MNSSHP?

I did a bit of research on this and the farthest back I could find was 1995 but for the first year it was only Halloween night and for 3 years it was only 2 nights and then each year there after they added more and more nights.

Were you disappointed with the decorations in the parks during the day, or during the party?

DNBois- As others have already said, there arent any halloween decorations up. Like Hockey Mom, I LOVE fall & Halloween. Its my favorite time of year. When I was looking at going to WDW last October, I was so excited thinking that there would be pumpkins and stuff out everywhere. I was disappointed too!! You will see an occastional fall leaf colored swag over some of the doors on Main Street. The only place they have fall stuff out is back in Liberty Square. THere is a porch with rockers on it, and they had pumpkins and cornstalks out. That was it. I thought it would be all decked out for fall. They bring stuff out for the party, and CInderella's coach sits in the middle of a pumpkin patch behind the castle. As soon as I can find my cd for my scanner, I will hook it up to my new computer and I can send some pics of the decorations.

Will you get to do the party DNBois??
