While wandering Lowes today and looking at the Halloween decor options, I wondered how many people choose the different types. Do more people go for the cute stuff, like Disney, Snoopy, cute black cats, silly jack o lanterns, etc., or do more choose the more realistic/horror/super scary stuff? Maybe some mix the two?

In our house we're definitely on the lighter side. Lots of Disney, some friendly ghosts, cute animals, etc.

I just thought with spooky season incoming, it might be fun to find out. Vote away in my completely unscientific poll!

(And as the season goes along, if you feel comfortable posting pics, that might be fun, too!)

Never been into the creepy/ghoulish stuff but apparently some of our neighbors are. Frankly, for a 1-day holiday mostly for children, I don't think it worth spending a lot of time/money on decorations regardless of the type.

We used to spend both time and money decorating for Halloween, but as we've gotten older and having no kids in the neighborhood we gave it up. Instead we decorate for Fall, which lasts much longer then just one day and carries us though Thanksgiving.

I don’t decorate outside because I have a lawn service and don’t want to be taking it down and setting it up over and over. Inside the house, I am a Haunted Mansion kind of girl, with lots of purple wallpaper pillows and throws, plus some HM figures and art on the mantle. I have the gargoyle with lit candles for the mantle centerpiece.

I love Halloween and decorate, I suppose it is on the cuter side ... and def. has some Disney touches. I have been adding the Halloween popcorn buckets the last couple of years to help justify their purchase 🙄 but my Mayor car and Scary Teddy make great Halloween decorations, and yes.... I might have been sucked in by a large Doom Buggy

I currently have an addiction to plastic skeletons... my front porch this year... the giant 12 ft Skelly needs to wait for a tree to come down first....

Everything for me is cute cute cute. I don’t like anything bloody like it came straight out of a horror movie.

People by me are getting more and more horror movie type stuff for their yards. I don’t have little children anymore and I’m glad I don’t, because it would make me very uncomfortable to have my small children see this stuff all the time. IMO, the gory decorations have gotten out of control around here.

I do more "tradiotional" so I voted OTHER.
I put out lighted fake pumpkins. I habe ONE 6 ft blowup cute ghost. I have a strand of three cat eyes hanging on a bush and I do throw some lights ( purple orange and red) on 2 bushes. Then I have 2 or 3 scarecrows by my birch tree and 2 small decorative flags. The BATS on one flag is about the scariest thing!! Along with that there are FALL sunflower stakes her and there. I start FALL decorating outside in late AUG and it stays up until T day week.

I had to laugh at "mostly for children". My beloved Aunt who passed away 25 years ago was SO ahead of her time. She loved Halloween and always had some sort of decor inside and outside during OCT. When I was young (maybe late 60's early 70's ) she dressed as a pregnant nun to pass out candy. She was a very devout Catholic and she had the heart, humor, and laugh of a thousand people!

Mixture. We have a Pet Cemetery, but also a lot of cute things.
We won't be decorating outside this year. We leave the morning of the 31st for a cruise.
I will put a few things inside for us to enjoy....place mats, table clothes, towels, rugs.

Well, since we don't have any little ones anymore, we have switched to a mostly neutral fall scheme...rattan pumpkins, some Rae Dunn pieces I love, etc, so that I can decorate in early September and leave it up through Thanksgiving. In October we add a more festive Halloween themed front door wreath and mat. I also have my coffee bar decorated with all Disney Halloween items I have collected. My husband loves to decorate the outside for Halloween night so that's more of a skeleton, blowups, tiki torches lining the driveway, black lights and Monster Mash music playing - it's a chaotic, over the top set up for one afternoon/evening, and the trick or treaters love it!

So speaking of gross decorations (not my thing personally)..... I work at a college in the science department and I was clearing out some old anatomical models and came across a latex muscle leg that had seen better days... think flayed open with veins and whatnot hanging out... a friend is very excited to gross it out even more and use it in the town wide Halloween celebration, very excited to see it have a second life so to speak

IMHO it's just another money grab to get people to buy decorations and pour pumpkin spice all over everything.

And get off my lawn! :D

I love Halloween, but really don't get into the scary stuff at home. I place lots of pumpkins, big and small (I like the twisty stems) in both orange and white along with lots of mums in antique, rusty, sap (maple) buckets, old apple baskets and various vintage wooden boxes. It goes with my vintage vibe and unless we have early snow, it decorates my porch until Thanksgiving weekend!

:hippie:

We have a few skeletons in our front yard, plus a variety of tombstones. We’re not too big on gore but are not afraid to go there. We just don’t have many trick or treaters in our neighborhood.
