Halloween Cruisers 2002 Where are you?

OKay...this thread is dying again! So I'm just giving it a quick BUMP in hopes that it doesn't really die anymore.

Oh and JAN... I just remembered that I have a friend wh oused to live in Valparaiso (I think I spelled that right) Her name is Ali Welch. Do you know her or the family? I don't know. It just zoomed to my head!

Hi everyone getting ready for the holidays, cleaning carpets moving furniture to make room for the Christmas Tree and such. I think my shopping is completed I searched high and low for a Fur Real Friend but I find one a Wal-Mart. I was told at Toys-R-Us that Hasbro didn't make enough of them and that they would not get a shipment in till Feb. I was really beginning to believe Ashley would not get one. Thank goodness for Wal-Mart.

No servers needed here, we're going out for Thanksgiving dinner. Now Christmas will be a different story.

You all have a great one.

I've been so busy I haven't gotten a chance to post on this thread. Thanks Jan for getting it started! I've got a picture of Estelle and Phil at the Palos brunch too. Actually we've got two pictures of everyone at the brunch. I can have Paul post them if anyone is interested. Patty

What's with the Christmas obsession in November?! It's not even December yet but every1 is desperatly trying to get all their presents sorted. Ah well, Im not too bothered, I love the Christmas feeling.

Jan Way Cool on setting up this thread so we can all keep up with one another.
I will have Phil take a picture of me wearing the costume. Unfortunately it will not be with a tropic island behind me. Oh well, lack a day.
I know just what you mean Emma I would love to have two desserts and a reccomendation for the entree. Of course even more I would like it if some one ELSE cooked it.
Congratulations Ginger on having a gifted person growing up in your family. It can be loads of fun and sometimes a hassle. We had one, our middle daughter, Mary. And she grew up and went into social work, sort of. She is a Youth Advocate for Northampton County. She wants to go back and get a more advanced degree. I think she hopes eventually to be a representative for children in the judicial system.
We are hoping to do another cruise in 2004 and maybe a cruise next year with other friends to Alaska. I do so want to see whales. And maybe a few seals and for sure Bald Eagles. But I suspect that I may have to have two new knees before that happens.
Phil just came in from blowing the leaves off the yard and into the street for the township to come along and suck up. So I have to go off and get ready to go out to dinner.

Estelle

EMMA: Our holiday season begins with Thanksgiving--the end of November. Food, family and friends--like Christmas only no presents and not celebrating Jesus' birth.
As far as Christmas is concerned, I am not sure about anyone else, but so many people in my family live far away that we have to get started on Christmas early because we have to mail things. I also like finding bargains after Christmas to save for the next year. When I have all year to shop I can find things more suited to each person.

GINGER: Congrats on finding the special Christmas item ! :) presumably for the special kid. Best wishes to Ashley as she investigates new learning opportunities.

RORY: There are several WELCH families in the area. I do not know a kid by that name, but wouldn't it have been neat if I had met her Mom at some time?

ESTELLE: If Phil had taken your picture on Halloween, there would have been no tropical island behind you either--we were in the middle of the Sea at night. No problem for me--I just want to put it in the scrapbook! I am putting the prints of the other pictures in your Birthday card and will mail it in the morning.

Except for Estelle in her costume, I think the scrapbook is done. I am so tickled with it and had a great time doing it.

I am feeling better from this flu. My head is less stuffy and I cough less. I did not see any patients on Wednesday which was probably good as running a few errands wore me out.

I am glad Disney is taking this virus thing seriously rather than trying to pretend it did not happen. I know I did not get it because I did not have an upset stomach and I didn't get sick until we had been off the ship over two weeks.

Have a super day,
Jan :earsgirl:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL THE HALLOWEEN CRUISERS

Hey everyone! Just wanted to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving! All is well with us. We went out to Disney this past weekend. It was a bit cold for us here in FL. But we had a very nice time anyway. Now we are up in Virginia at my sisters house. It is way too cold here!!!!! I want to go home>;)

I just wanted to let everyone know that my husbands cousin who cruised with us got sick two days after the cruise with the same type symptoms they are having now. And her daughter (the one with downs syndrome) got sick after her and wound up in the hospital for two days. Needless to say, DCL has been contacted by us to let them know the sickness might have started back then. Also the CDC told us that they have to check back three previous cruises to see if anyone else was sick. So if any of you were sick during or after the cruise, please contact DCL.

Okay, enough of that as I said before everyone have a great holiday.:)

Dena:earsgirl:

Another "Happy Thanksgiving" a bit late. My DH got sick the night we arrived home...same symptoms, then I came down with it. I'm guessing it was around, though not in the same extent, on our cruise.

I remember some of you took pictures at the Palo Brunch of the group. Do any of you have a copy that you could email me? I would love to have a picture of the group. I didn't have my camera with me at brunch.

Sue Ellen

Sue Ellen: Paul's emailing you the picture. If you don't get it tell me and he'll try again. Sorry to hear you and your hubby got sick. Atleast it was after the cruise and not during.
Hope everyone had a Happy Turkey Day! Patty

Thanks Patty, it came through just fine. I really appreciate the picture. Whew, we had quite the group didn't we? I was so glad when they came over and opened up that door to let in a breeze. It certainly got warm over there.
Thanks for the fun time everyone!
Sue Ellen

Can you believe it has been a month already???

Howdy everyone! I hope your holidays were fun and food and family filled! Ours were good. But cold. We have snow!

I will be mailing out my ornament exchange to someone tomorrow. Any of ya'll doing this? I am finding it to be quite a lot of fun. I can tell ya'll because my person wouldn't read this thread...I am sending her a DCL Glass Ball ornament, and a lighthouse ornament of a lighthouse from around here.

We did all of our shopping on Friday morning. We were third on the door at Toys R Us. A couple of my girlfriends and I went to Traverse City (1 1/2 hour away, the closest mall and other stores) and we finished all of our shopping by 11 am that morning. My biggest score was the two boy Bratz. Had no idea what these were till my SIL told me. They are different.

Anyway...hope ya'll have a good week!

And yes, Annabelle was Jessie...but we didn't do the trick or treat. Everyone looked great! I look back on our pictures from the top of the stairs overlooking the atrium while it was packed with trick or treaters and all I can say is "WOW! ALL THE PEOPLE!"

What a blast it was!!!!!

My husband picked up a kitten who was darting in and out of traffic on a busy road two days after we got home. He was just at 5 lbs and very hungry. After debating on a name he became "Magic"! Well, Magic is now one happy kitten. He is about 6 months old and has now, one month after being with us, made it to 7 1/2 pounds! He is very healthy now and very happy. So now my other kitty has a playmate, and he will always be a reminder of our Magical vacation.

Sue Ellen

Sue Ellen: I am very happy to hear you and your husband gave that kitten a much better and "magical" life in your home. Two thumbs Up!!! Patty

Post Thanksgiving Greetings to all! :D
Hoping your celebrations were enjoyable and restful!

We had both our boys here as well as my mother and brother. For the last week in addition to our jobs, Tom and I have been cleaning house, changing sheets, putting up the lights on the outside of the house and the candles in the windows, cooking, doing dishes, (the MAGIC waiters and cooks never did show up :(), visiting and occasionally sleeping. The only time I got to the computer was to do some paperwork for my job. I now hope to get caught up on OUR thread and my e-mail.

How is MAGIC the kitten? What a great name!

:) Which ever one of us is out of bed first brings coffee to the other and says it is from the beverage station on deck 9. :)

Any new reports on the status of the MAGIC (the ship, not the kitten)? Where was she the week she was not cruising? Any good threads about her on the Cruiseline Forum? (I have missed so much.)

Have a great day,
Jan :earsgirl:

Happy very belated Turkey Day to everyone!!

Our holiday was guiet and small. Only 10 of us. Our family is quite small but in past years there have been all sorts of extras.
There were presents at our festivities. The 30th is my birthday and so there were gifts. And then Saturday evening we went out to dinner. Almost like Magic but only one dessert. Phil and I were fine after the cruise. However I did actually see on the morning of embarkation a family leaving the ship, at least I think they were leaving. The woman was in a wheel chair and looked, I want to say terrible, but mean only that she looked ill. I thought no more of it until I started hearing about the problems on the ship. Then of course I wondered.
I actually started doing some Christmas shopping yesterday and did some more today. Our youngest has hers all done!! I have a few stocking stuffers. Oh well I still have two weeks and 6 days. I'll never get it all done.
I have just been paged by the husband and youngest daughter to come and help with the boxes coming down from the attic. Christmas decorations oh joy something else for me to do.
Estelle

Estelle: Was the woman in the wheelchair that you are referring to the one we saw under the tarp where we picked up the van back to the Radisson?

Jan :earsgirl:

Well I was going to tell you what our production in school is this year but I cant because the plan has changed. It was going to be Blood Brothers but we cant get rights to do it because of something illegal that's been going on with the music. As of yet, nobody knows what it's going to be instead!

Rory-I cant pm you anymore cos your inbox is full. If you delete some messages Ill be able to again.

Hi All! Just a quick check in while we are in the mists of getting snowed in. About 6 inches on the ground, with a few more coming.

Estelle - A question I have wanted to know since we left the cruise. How did your space savers work? How did you re-pack the suit cases?
