One more thing and this I am really worried about. How much luggage are we allowed per person. I usually have a big suitcase a garment bag and a pretty full carry on. I'm embarassed to admit that's just my stuff. I sneak things into Craigs when he's not looking too :ssst: I usually carry my bag on. I put mostly my brushes, medicine, books, hairdrier....etc. All stuff to get me through IF, forbid my luggage were lost. Now what can I bring?

help! please help!!

Are the hairdryers in the cabins really that bad? I was hoping I wouldn't have to bring mine. It's so big and bulky! I thought I read on another thread that you could borrow a regular hairdryer from guest services with a $50.00 deposit (that you get back upon returning it) has anyone ever done this?

Now AWOL, please don't be mad. I'm sorry I didn't share that info sooner. Honestly, I was still in "discussion" with DCL to find out why we weren't celebrating Halloween on Halloween. I wanted confirmation from a higher manager than I was getting. I wanted to know for certain this is the schedule they were going to follow. I'm surprised at the amount of indifference I received from a company like Disney. However, all of our emails did get us a better situation. I'm sorry if I get insane about this stuff. I just need logic to understand. Sometimes we don't get logic and I catch that. I was waiting until I got the strongest answer we could. For the record we fought HARD, for days, to get it this way.

Will you still have a drink with me? Choc Marg too?? :love1:

Awol,
I second this...We really did fight hard for several days and dealt with sooo many people to actually get a straight answer... I really think the emails helped too...Sorry again that one of us did not inform everyone sooner.....
Sorry...Disney was really hard to pin down for a straight answer on this topic and it was really frustrating....trying to get to the top on this......I am just glad that things are going to work out.....

On another note my new camcorder arrived a few days ago and we love it..Thanks Heather and Tim for helping us figure out which one to get.. I am sooo very happy now that I only have to carry around one camera to video and take all of my pictures with..This camera is great if anyone is looking to get a new one....

Just an FYI, if we do not get docs today we will have to wait till Tues. now with MOnday being hte holiday and all no mail!!! Right??????

If there is an issue with the amount of luggage I would think that it would occur at the airport. When we were at port they did not seem to care how many pieces were there. You check your luggage in outside the port and then go into the terminal. Because we did not want to carry around the girls carry on luggage we checked it and no problems with that.

I have a pile of stuff to bring that has been in our bedroom for awhile and it has been getting larger and larger. Well today I think that I am going to start getting serious about it and begin transferring it to the suitcase. Yahhoooo!

Depends on if FedEx or UPS is still delivering on Monday.

Wife  & I pirate: checked in 6 large suite cases plus we had
3 carry-ons on our 7 day land/sea last December...."no problem"
***extra porter tip money*** :thumbsup2

***Hint for extra luggage: if you're going to WDW first; pick-up some
extra luggage tags from the Resort DCL Cruise Desk instead of waiting to complete them at Port Canaveral.....
....also preprinted info labels to slap onto luggage tags
(going & returning) saves headaches***

Thanks guys! I started doing my lists/organizing/ trying on everything in my closet (using Craig as my opinion /judge  ) starting at 6 and stopping at 1:00am  . I have everything of mine out and sorted. I'm embarrassed to tell you how many pair of shoes are coming with me. I am an overpacker. I need to be. When I'm on vacation I pretty much know what I'll wear BUT we girls (this one anyhow) need choices. It was actually pretty fun. I realized I needed a couple of things to complete an outfit or two and a couple of other things.

I need glitter hairspray for Liv. I bought Hope and Hanna some but I forgot Olivia's. I'm hoping with Halloween coming I'll find some easily.
Olivia is stressing out because she's my next target. Tomorrow or Monday she's trying everything on and matching up all hair stuff and shoes etc...

D...I couldn't use the hairdrier in the rooms. It depends on your hair type.

Jen- I'd say you are packing way more than I am! :goodvibes I'm trying to choose things that I can repeat like shoes and skirts to minimize what I take. I'm sort of a "plain jane". I wear that same jewelry everyday. I live in my flip flops, and have a very simple hairstyle. Seriously, I'm going to try to get by with 2 suitcases, a garment bag, and carry on for all 4 of us ! I'm sure many of you think that's just crazy, but we have managed with less than that on prior vacations....so well see!

JEN,

The porters are going to hate us.. I am thinking that I will just as much luggage as you do.....I have the girls all packed and ready to go....All I have to do is put their stuff into my garment bag and pack their costumes...
Bruce is going to have his own garmet bag and I will have my own...

I really have trouble packing lightly for myself or the kids........

It must be nice to be able to pack already!! It is still 100 degrees here, so the shorts are still being used!!!

As far as Halloween goes, it seems to me that DCL made the correct choice. Since Halloween falls on a late port day, how many people will want to be back on the ship & ready for their Halloween activities at 4:00? I am guessing that the actual time of day for the activities can't be changed much as several of the characters have multiple jobs on the ship & they likely need to be in the shows in the evenings.

Bucki - I'm a shorts & flip flops kind of gal too. The hairdryers werefine for me. The ones in hotels are a pretty good guage for me. If you can deal with those, the DCL ones should be OK.

I read a good packing tip on the main board. Don't pack all of anyone's clothes in the same suitcase. Spread everyone's stuff across all the bags & put your formal/semi-formal night stuff in two different bags. This way if a bag does get lost, one person isn't completely without.

We had a garment bag break last year & we never replaced it, so when I went to FL this summer, I just packed my formal stuff in the dry cleaning bags in a normal suitcase. They came out great! No wrinkles at all. So save the dry cleaning bags. They work!

Choc-Marg,
I wish it still was 100 degrees here it is freezy here today I have a big bulky sweater on...UGH!!!! I can not wait to get to the warmer weather.....

Tell me more about these dry cleaning bags you eman the ones that they come back in from the cleaners??????

Yep! Just the regular plastic bags that cover your dry cleaning when they come back. I've read that lots of people use those & I have had good luck with them too!

If lived somewhere that had a shorter warm season, I would probably want the warm weather to come back too. BUT, we have been in shorts since Feb/March and it has been over 100 degrees 24/7 since June. Yes, it has just started getting under 100 degrees at night too. I'm ready for a break!!

I haven't been able to pack anything yet either.....It has still been shorts weather here too. Today is high of 67 degrees and sunny. Now, that may sound chilly to you Arizona residents, but here in Ohio, it's still shorts weather! :goodvibes Kylie actually wanted to wear a tank top today, but I told her "it's not that warm!"

Choc_Marg, Thanks for the feedback on the hairdryer. Hotel dryers are usually fine for me too. I think I'll save the space in my suitcase.

Deanna- believe it or not I too live in jeans and flip flops. I do have fun with clothes but don't usually get many places to wear them. I like dressing for dinner every night because I feel like I'm finaly getting some use out of those dresses that are hanging in the back of my closet. I am usually very casual. When it's time to switch over to boots from my flip flops (still holding out) I get really bummed out.

Right now it's 55 degrees

It's 57 degrees and damp here in W/S. I'm still barefooted with a t-shirt and sweatpants only because we are finishing the trimming and cleaning from all the construction and I haven't gotten around to shaving my legs!
This is just now getting into camping weather for us. We are known as the polar bears cause we like to camp when it's cold! We actually camp in a tent and not an R.V.
Growing up in South Miami, I don't really like the tropical weather...I just like the idea of going on a cruise :goodvibes

Any one dancing yet??

I have everything of mine out and sorted. I'm embarrassed to tell you how many pair of shoes are coming with me.

Are you trying to compete with Kelly? Remember she was 11 on the last cruise and she took 12 pairs of shoes. What is funny is that most of the day she is barefoot. She says that she just wants to be prepared just in case. Kelly also packs every shirt and every skirt and shorts she has. Luckly her stuff is so small it all fits in a large suitcase.

We are having beautiful weather here. We are going to Disney tomorrow just for the day, it has been awhile since we have been.

Patiently waiting for Doc's in Tampa

Dave

Hi everyone, no dox here. Torantodisney posted on another thread that she talked to DCL and the docs were mailed out on Thurs. and were to be delivered in three days. I huess that means Monday will be the day!??! :goodvibes

Well, as far as the packing goes, I am right there along with Jen and Kristin. Since it has gotten pretty cold here, I already have the kids packed and most of Tim's things. I am hoping to work on my clothes later today. I always end up over packing. I never quite know what I am in the mood to wear until that day, therefore I always bring a bunch of different outfits. Not to mention all the shoes! Since, I do daycare, I normally do not dress up much during the week. I always end up with baby drool and crackers smeared all over me. I do really like to dress up while on vacation. Especially for dinner. We are looking at three large suitcases, three medium ones, and a garment bag. I will also be shipping some things down. I was going to ship all the Halloween goodie bags, but it weighed a ton. I ended up packing them in the med. suitcase (it took up the whole suitcase and weighed 42 pounds  ) I will then have an empty suitcase for souvenirs! I always feel sorry for Tim lugging everything around the airport. One thing I do when packing is seperate each kids outfit into a ziplock bag. I have matching outfits for Timmy and jacob. I throw the top and bottom along with sock and underware in a 2 gallon ziploc bag. I put both Timmy and Jacon's in one bag. Might seem kind of wierd  , but for me it saves time. That way I am not searching trying to match up everything. Just grab the bag and go! It also protects againt any spills.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
