Glad to hear your church community is well organized with generous souls.

Not trying to make this a spiritual thing... as I try to be a sort of "private sort" in these matters - and ocassionally I am not ... but it is nice to have a well networked support organization in your life (that's the non-denominational remark complementing the friendly neighbors who have helped your family!) :goodvibes I kno... (and with that, in the eternal words of Gilda Radner - remember her?) .... so "never mind".

At any rate, yeah - the weekend was quite enjoiable. We did Legoland - and the Zoo, spent a day just swimming and lounging while we just talked and watched the kids running around the hotel, jumping on the beds and wandering round the water front. Typical stuff I would say. The zoo was under rated as it was a truly great experience... and to some extent Lego Land was over rated - as out toddlers were barred from many seemingly very low intensity rides. We were disappointed. Disney has far wilder rides with NO restriction on our toddlers! The Zoo was simply wonderful.

Aside from that - the nice news I must confess was my brother in law was confiding he had heightened interest (comprehensive) in coming to California to relocate. No guarantees he was going to move anytime this decade or the next... :confused3 He had been off and on with a hugely complex web or reasons for this or that - but at the end of the day if family we love is seriously considering a relocation that makes it easier to see them - then we are quite happy about that - no question.

So... I spent a little more then I intended on this and that. Example... I imagine it's inevitable as one parent "caves in" to their childs' desires for a pricey multi-piece costume - then the other kids sort of have to get something similar. I caved in too after someone else (who shall remain un-named ... there were an Auntie from Hawaii and the Uncle and Auntie from Boston there with their kids) caved in to their child. Yeah - it cost me an extra $50 bucks plus that I usually resist as we try not to spoil our kids. Earning a buck is not an easy thing and our kids should learn that money does not grow on trees readily - although to them it must look that way! In our neighbborhood we have sort of well to do sorts - I saw Bob Barker at the FedEX just a couple of days ago sending a FedEX packet to a local TV channel. He sort of looks like you'd expect - only very casual. SO we talk sometimes about how some "other kids" really get spoiled rotten in the neighborhood - and we feel it is NOT a good thing. We try to resist the temtations. That's why we stick with a window cabin on DCL... LOL! .... well ... actually I'm always fishing for the free upgrade (already got one on DCL from 9 to 6!)... and that may weigh more heavily on the games I engage in! :confused3

Aside from that - I will add in final comment that for any who might ever visit San Diego... remember .... your AAA card will get you a whopping 20% off the deluxe admission at the SD Zoo :thumbsup2 - it cost a lot less than LegoLand and trumped it handily in our opinions! :furious: Costco advance purchase of deluxe zoo passes would have saved us under $1 but we made our decision to go after we arrived in SD.... and naturally all the local Costcos did not see the discounted admissions to the Zoo or Legoland. Yeah - I called and swung by as I was printing weekend photos to give away and we bought a pizza for snacking while there.

OK - gotta go now....

Take it easy Kristen.... time and doing the right thing will bring you a decent recovery in the fastest manner! I'm no expert so that's my standard "optimists' line"... but I do mean it too!

TTFN! pirate:

Crash,

Glad to hear that you had a great visit with your brother in law and family...We loved the San Diego Zoo when we went last year with my husbands comapny..they actually shut the zoo down for us and we attended a private party there...it was sooo great...

Loved San Diego and the shopping was great tooo....Forgot what is was called but the hotel was in walking distance of a great little palce to go eat, shop, and drink, it was quaint but lovely and really got going at night time....

Wish I had known you then would have stopped by to say hello...Well maybe next time...

Heather,

I am excited to tell you I have the names of the hotels we will be staying in Washington...SO hopefully we can plan to meet while I am there...I was shocked at how much the hotel is costing Bruce's company per night...More than a hotel in NYC would cost....I was sticker shocked lets just say that....Flights were pricey to fly there as well three o four....WOW..!!!! could be going to WDW for that price...

Got to run a friend is on her way over to bring some sweets to me for a speedy recovery...

Talk to you all later,
Kristin

Just wanted to remind everyone that if you want to sign up for trick or treating to let us know...

Kristin- I am glad to hear that you are getting out some. It is also good to hear of the love and support your Friends and Church have been showing you.

Well Pool season is officially here!! :sunny: :sunny: I kept my Nephews ages 10 and 7 yesterday as they were out of School for the Summer. We spent a lovely day swimming in my Pool. Today my Brother's Kids ages 16 and 13 spent the day with me swimming. It is so great that they all love coming to visit their Aunt Teri. When Rick gets home we are taking then to see X-Men at the Movie's.It is in the 90's here and suppose to be hot all weekend. I am sure we will spend a lot of time in the pool this weekend.

Hope everyone has a great Memorial Weekend!!!!!

Teri

Terri, Thanks went out today to lunch with the kids and now I am in such pain..Funny how the little things make me soo tired now!!!!!!!!

WE opened our pool on monday night..well DH really did and we have had the heater going ever since and hoping that the kids can get into it this weekend....Sounds like your nephews are lucky to have such a nice Auntie to take them ...and let them swim...

Happy Memorial DAY!!!!!! to all...Anyone have any BIG plans???????

Disney Cruise Question: Where is your favorite place to sit and relax on the ship???????

We like the 4th deck where the blue chaise lounges are. No one really goes out there. My sister and I spent a good bit of time there last year after the tequilla tasting............laughing and relaxing before we needed to go and get our families ready for dinner!

We also like a particular 2 tables at the goofy pool. We always sit in the same place everyday that way any of our 11 people traveling party can find eachother if they need to. This is also good for the kids who are running every which way. We have done this the past 3 cruises, always in the same place............highly useful.

Getting fired up in Ohio for the end of school! And then we are out of here for a couple of weeks vacationing at the beach.

Have a great long weekend everyone.

Hello everyone...

... hope your Memorial Day weekend is going well. We have almost nothing planned - except a lunch by the pool with the kids and friends. Here are some pix from last weekend in San Diego. We hit Legoland with family from Honolulu and Boston, then the Zoo with my SIL from Boston. The kids had a grand time last week... try looking for the "watch show" link (as described elow in my signature area) to see these in a slide show with music. Gotta run.... pirate:

Missy,

Sounds like you have a great system and place to sit for the kids and family to find you at the pool...

Can you tell me more about the tequilla tasting...My Dh might be interested in this..But if it is too much he may be useless the rest of the day.... :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

When do your kids get out of school???Soon I am assuming then what beach are you off too????

Crash,
Really enjoyed looking at all of the pictures the zoo is just how I remebered it...What a great place....to visit...looks like the kids had fun as well.....

Warm day here today the kids swam a good portion of the day....

I must have over done it tonight I am in such pain..so off to bed for me...

Would love to hear about any one else's favorite place on board and if anyone else has done any of the wine tasting etc.. on board..

ALSO do not forget to sign up for the trick or treating...we are getting a few more kids so this is looking great!!!!!!

Kristin.........

DCL called it "Margarita tasting" but it was a trick! I think maybe 2 mini-margaritas and 4 SHOTS of the tequilla! We went with out little dis group of girls (women) and the guy that gave the talk was very boring and hard to understand. We were in bathing suits (everyone else was dressed) and there was I think 7 of us and we laughed the whole time! :rotfl2: I can now however tell the difference between Cuervo and the good stuff.

I have done the wine tasting too. It was a bit boring for my taste as well, however, I must admit that I did learn something so it was worth it. Our wine tasting was an appetizer tasting too so that was fun. They need to have some food at the "margarita ;) tasting" too.

We have 5 more days of school for the kids and 6 more if you count teacher work day for me! I am getting moved out of my perfect room at school, so I will have to actually work on teacher work day this year and get moved.

Have a great Sunday!

Oh the margirita tasting sounds much better,,,That is too funny that you were in bathing suits...I would think you would not have needed to be dressed up for that...ANd no food if I let DH go to that he will need a nap afterwards..
Was this something you signed up for once you boarded or did you do it before hand??
Any other things that you recommend to do on board...
What grade do you teach again?? that is terrible when you have to get moved out of a room you love...I got moved one year from fourth to first and was soo upset...
Happy Sunday...Just think and you get tomorrow off as well...

No.....you don't have to sign up for that stuff ahead, you just can do it that day.

I work in a large high school with "underperforming freshman". I had the best classroom this year with an attatched huge office. It was filled to the ceiling with junk and I cleaned it all out and then everyone saw what a gem it was so I am getting the bump so the district curriculum office can move in! It was good while it lasted.

I think I'll have the same job next year, new location though. The space this year was kind of back away from everything and this was good for the kids I work with as they are easily distracted :scared1: to say the least.

Gotta run.....I am trying to put together a webquest and keep getting side tracked to do anything else!

Hi Everyone,

It has been awhile since I posted but have been kept updated by Goofy drives a car.

I hope all is well with everyone. I can't believe that we are less than five months away. :cool1:

Say, I think that we may have a couple of group members traveling as we speak. TeacherMom and XLT and the family!! I hope you are having a great time and can't wait to hear all about it when you get back. :wave2:

Hi everyone! Hope all is well. We have been so busy here. Timmy is away at a school camp this week. First time he has been away without family. It is driving me crazy not being able to check in on him. Jacob has his final baseball game tonight. They are getting their trophies and having a pizza party.

Here is a link from a thread over on the main cruise board. It has some really cool videos. My kids just loved watching them! It would be really neat to see if this is your first time cruising!

Just a reminder to send a PM to Kristin or I to sign up for trick or treating! We have a lot of fun stuff planned! The more the merrier! Also, please let us know if anyone in you party is celebrating a birthday or anniversary!

I found some really cute matching outfits for us at the Disney store! Here is a picture of us from the last cruise. I had to force my husband to wear his! The ones this year are red. I have yet to show them to Tim. ;)

HA! I was just checking the live thread to see if they posted anything! For a bunch of self-professed blabbermouths, their live thread is pretty quiet!

5 months!! Zowie. Time is flying! We now have a flight ressie to Florida! But, no return flight yet! So, maybe we'll just stay on the ship permanently ;)

Give GDAC(Goofy Drives A Car) a big wet smoochie and then tell him it was from me! :rotfl2:

Welcome BACK!

I gotta run down to see my FIL... he's visitng locally from Hawaii for a financial convention. We're just putting the finishing touches on a surprise birthday party for him - so I'm gonna have to tell him today that we're cancelling the planned visit with him next month... so we can surprise him in August! Yeah... I'm gonna have ta' fib.

Cheers!

BTW...

Here are a couple of pix from this past Sunday - we visited a Pick Your Own stuff Farm out here. We ended up getting some strawberries... harder work then I realized... and there was a full organic grocery + children's "country play area". The kids had a good time!

Kristin

NOw Kristen....

... R U sure you want me to start up another game? I don't want to scare anyone off (again?) :confused3 ?

So - in anticipation of your continuing encouragement.... LETS TRY THIS.... we'll limit this to 4 days... or until this SUNDAY midnite. The game may continue afterwards but I will only award "points" through midnite sunday. PLUS.... The DIS entity who accumulates the most POINTS to this series shall recieve a SPECIAL "free" GIFT FROM ME.... an OFFICIAL DISNEYLAND AUTOGRAPH BOOK sealed in original plastic wrap! Hows that for a bit of incentive - better than simple silent braggin' rights?

ONE POINT is awarded for every answer you post for a funny OR travel related question AND one point is awarded for a posting question that is either travel related or humorous... and two points may be awarded for question that elicits humor and involves travel somehow. NOT posting a question when an answer was posted shall DEDUCT a point. And editing is limited to 1 hour after initially posting. Edits after 1 hour of initial posting shall simply result in zero points awarded for that posting.

This shall be a question game again - and you may answer the posted question OR you may elect to answer a PAST question in this series that seems like more fun ... in case someone else already addressed a question you would enjoy answering. Also - once you have posted an answer you should in turn CONTRIBUTE the next question.

NOW HERE IS THE LIMITING RULE(S).... the question you post has to pertain to or reference TRAVEL OR something OBVIOUSLY HUMOROUS in some way. Either - or .... so there is considerable flexability while limitations are in place. Non-qualifying questions do not get harshly criticized... I'll just count one less towards the total. AND about half way through on Saturday or Friday late nite I will post running point totals. I reserve the right to judge scoring any way I deem fit and fair since I'm donating the priceless prize and setting up the guidelines. ;)

And the starting question shall be.... What was the funnyist thing you ever did or experienced while on a vacation?
