Helluo y'all....

Well... K, I might counter that it's not a "losing" proprosition to make friendly plans for a cruise... especially a DCL voyage. Compared to cruise critic with all their lines - and especially commpared to - say - Carnival with a fleet og ships that dwarfs Disney - I found their cruise meet threads were woefully attended. Yeah, that's even when taken as a culumative total of activity versus the DIS DCL forums! Hey the reasons are obvious.... some of us really are fans of things Disney. And some of us have kids too. We work pretty hard at life in our own way and as such Disney represents a real escape in providing us all a chance to return to never-land". I still remember the 1st two sailings we took how in the cabins there was a simple caption in a huge litograph on the wall that decared "the second star from the right" and how the theater was pixie dusted. I have never seen another cruise line engage in that sort of stage craft. Let alone a land based stage. And we've been to a few from Paris to London to NY and even a few in what I consider to be stage starved LA.

So, if you have a little recreational interest in DCL and YOUR upcoming voyage I say ... it's OK. It's Disney and this pulls a little of everyones' yputh back to the surface.

On another point - not to dredge up the sad and darker side of life - but I must confess that having recently had two people very close to us (byy blood and age) come down with chronic life ending (for the most part) conditions I have found myself extremely pensive in reflecting on MY life perspectives and collectively on my immediate family priorities. I used to travel fully 50% of the time and barely had time to THINK I was married or that I had a nice home. I would come home and walk into my home and silently muse "this is REALLY nice" compared to being on the roar. My spouse used to get REALLY MAD at me because when we were trying to have a child - after 4 years or so - with no luck she would flip if I were scheduled to travel when she told me that I was NOT to be away during that certain time of the month.

My point - a few folks remind me that IF anyone has achieved a certain range of comfort and long term security than it's OK to say that on ones death bed they should not be caught musing "oh, I wish I had worked a lot harder". HECK... most folks say "I wish ... " something else... like I wish more time had been spent with my children or spouse... or I had done things I REALLY wanted to do to bring HAPPINESS and SATISFACTION back into my life. NOW... before anyone thinks of flaming me on this... satisfaction for many is THEIR WORK. That's Ok. My spouse and I ARE satisfied with our work. And I CAN imagine some being fully euphoric with their work. But I also think that there is much more to life than most any job. Except my favorite job now might be one where I could help LOTS of people without any poiciical criticism or exposure to downside. Does anything like that exist? Heck I muse quite seriously that if I were to work like a dog it would be to build a charitable foundation to provide a legacy of service to an underdog segment of the population. Maybe something as simple and [edestrian as a se;f perpetuating scholarship foundation.

Yeah, the next PELL grant foundation will be the Captain Crash scholarship. That might impact many in need who might otherwise miss out on a great life opportunity for lack of a few grubby 1000 for school! THAT might be a worth-while legacy (in addition to leaving the world with decent citiczens in the form of our genetic progeny). Oh well... wild daydreams.

Yeah... day-dreaming. In a way that's what the DIS threads are about. Daydreaming a bit of being on vacation. And for that matter I also frequent other forums of interest - like my photography sites, other travel sites, other CRUISE sites, and my investment sites.... among others. Aleast I am not engaged in true "loser" diversions like narcotics or DEALING in narcotics which - although profitable in all likelihood it comes at the price of DESTROYING almost every life it touches. Yeah... in my book all of those non-medical narcotics are a wildfire consuming souls at a heart breaking rate. I might add that we know folks (leave it vague, eh) who are single again because their spouses became entangled in narcotics). Yeah, the destruction to lives we've seen is EXTREME. THAT is for losers.... Not posting (to casual observation... potential excess?) on a Disney forum or Disney FORUMS with respect to an upcoming FAMILY vacation.

You know WHY I post to this forum? (YEAH... I imagine somewhere someone is grumbling - here we go again - he's gonna write a longer monologe again) I post here because my family has encountered nothing as rewarding as a family vacation as DCL for our children. Please do not think of this as being boastful (our bible study was recently reminding us that the bible asks us to not be boastful)... but out of wide ranging travels that include Bangkok, Hong Kong, Hawaii, London, Paris, domestic points and a half dozen cruises... and that is just WITH our 5 year old in tow... that does NOT count our travels BEFORE she was born.... nothing else has EVEN COME CLOSE to the PERFECT BALANCE we've experienced with a Disney Cruise... that is for a family vacation.

Maybe we're not smart enough to make Paris the perfect family vacation for travel with two parents and 2 kids under age 6. Maybe if we had brought our nanny (we did not) it might have made all the difference to us.. but probably NOT for our kids.

However, of all the sailings we've had - which are a meaningful number - though some on the DIS have sailed 3x as much as we have.... Disney is the ONLY cruise we have repeated 4x consecutively... and in addition it's the ONLY ship and port schedule we've repeated 4x consecutively! IE, the Magic for 7 nites on an eastern schedule. Yeah, for OUR family we've found something that we do indeed enjoy. And yes... I am close to thinking I'd like a change of pace on DCL - at least for port schedule.

Really what I'm saying here is the SHIP is our destination - and the ports are secondary. We are NOT fans of the western caribbean so in the case of DCL that just leaves the eastern caribbean. Or the pricey European sailings. Heck, not to change the topic (here we go again) but if I were to spend that much I would rather go Silerseas or Crystal in Europe. It would mean more $ than DCL per day but the experience would be singular. OR I would go far cheaper and with the savings I would be able to pay for another week and a half in the carribean! Yeah... in my book that would be having my cake and eating it!

SO - enuf of dat. All the preceeding is in refutation of the LOSER comment. Yeah - to some they might think too much of a good thing is bad... but on one's death bed will you be musing "I wish I had been working more" - or "I wish I had been enjoying my vacation earlier by lurking and posting more often on the DIS"? OK... only a nut like me would say anything like that.

Remember, I currently have the #2 position as most frequent poster to our cruise meet thread... (until Bickifan catches me and leaves me in the posting dust!) so you're preaching for sympathy to the choir. And in my case a "choir member" who has had a couple of ongoing life tragedies trigger reflective "happiness first" bouts of pensive thought. In my case our family finds a nice "jolt" of happiness in our Magic voyages!

Yours' will too! I'm nearly certain of it!

TTFN... I gotta get the family up an' ready for another visit to DL again. Our annual passes are gonna expire in May so we are trying to squeeze in a little more use while the weather is tolerable and the kids are out of formal school.

Again, TTFN.

Gee.... I wonder how long THIS posting entry is gonna be... I did NOT look back on it like I sometimes do. If there are many misspellings or keystroke errors please excuse me as this will go uneditied except for one quick review.

Again.... TTFN! pirate:

Well now...

It has indeed been a quiet weekend.

Well we just got in from Disneyland (again). They're running a "2 fer" promo and it's Spring Break so --- it was busy. We got in at 5:30PM... saw a parade and rode Space Mountian twice; and my younger daughter rode the merry go round 4x. Plus we had 15 minutes watching stem boat willy in a tribute to Micky threater.. nothing fancy. SO it was really low key... and really crowded. We left at 8:30PM and had dinner with my folks... hung out there til 11 and headed home.

Hope everyone else had a nice weekend - and has a pleasant week to come!

TTFN! :goodvibes

If the website Missy has suggested will allow us to order the shirts we want with the same screen on them, all the better! And a lot less work for me, which is good since I'm preparing to move to NC. So, Capt, design those shirts! :)

Aye - Aye .... Admiral... sir! :thumbsup2

Gotta get some tax stuff off today but i'll post my concepts in a couple days or If personal emails are sent via PM Ill return full image files (photographs of the art). I spoke to a local silk screener and have an itea of their desired formats and such.

Cheers! pirate:

They will........then you can get the same screen printed on whatever type of shirt/bag/mug whatever you want. Some people even had the Diser who did the artwork email the inverted design to them.......then they just printed off transfers at home and did "at home" iron ons.

Where are you moving in NC? I love North Carolina, what a beautiful state.

Busy week ahead.........have a good one.

Missy

I LOVE NC also! All of our family lives nearby, so I wouldn't dream of moving there now. Our kids love being so close to their grandpa, grandmas, aunts, uncles & cousins. BUT......if we didn't have "ties" here, that's where I'd want to live.

pans- congrats to your daughter on her art show!

Hi Everyone,
We have had a beautiful weekend here in SC. The skies were blue and it was around 88 degrees Sat and Sun. We went to the Azalea Festival In Summerville and had a great day. Sun we went to Church and then to the Park for a cookout. Today we started getting the pool ready for the Summer. I can't wait to start swimming!!!! We are going to Myrtle Beach this weekend with my Sister and her Family. I am ready for a weekend get away. Hope everyone has a great day. :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Teri

Kristin- My kids are great, thanks for asking. They are on spring break this week, so just a laid back week. How are you all?

Teri- Sounds like a beautiful weekend there in SC. Boy, my kids and I should have planned on spending spring break with you! When will the pool be ready? :teeth:

Good Morning to all!

Panmermaidzlagoon,

I just noticed that you are from Upstate NY. If you don't mind sharing, where abouts? My parents, who are joining us on the cruise, are from Canton, NY, which is about as far upstate as you can get without entering Canada. I went to Le Moyne college in Syracuse and now live in Rochester. It will be fun to have other upstaters on the cruise. :thumbsup2

Keely

Keely: Hello! :sunny:

We are from the Syracuse area! Both DH and I went to Potsdam - so we are very familar with Canton!!! We also spent 4 years in Rochester before moving back to the Syracuse area 3 years ago!!!!

I agree - it will be wonderful to have other Upstaters!!!! :sunny:

Raining cats, mice, dogs and all manner of small mammel here today. Also, the forecast says T-storms are due as well over our zip code. None so far so that's still to come I guess. We met some folks at Disneyland from Hawaii who suggested their heavy winter storms were rolling into SoCal... this is probably some of it!

Hope your weather is more agreeable than ours! :confused3

Hi everyone,
Boy, did we have a busy weekend! Timmy's baseball team won two out of three of the tournament games. They lost to the team that won the tournament. He made some really great plays at 2nd base. He is hitting above .500! Jacob starts his t-ball tomorrow night. Then local rec has a program for three year olds. Jacob will turn three on May 7 so we were just able to get him in the program! He has seen so much baseball, he is finally ready to play some himself! We had an absolutely beautiful weekend, but the weather sure changed last night! We had a bad thunder storm with quarter size hail. Luckily nothing get damaged. Very windy and cold here today!

Capt., I can not wait to see some of your t-shirt designs!

Hope everyone has a wonderful week! :wave2:

Today we started getting the pool ready for the Summer. I can't wait to start swimming!!!!

Teri.....we are just ahead of you. We spent all day Saturday and Sunday in the pool. Each day the water got up to about 82 degrees. And Fran had to work on perfecting her Mojito recipe. She just about has it but I think we will work on it more this weekend :rotfl: Fran also has to work on her tan as we cruise in 8 weeks and she has this thing about already being tan before vacation :confused3

He is hitting above .500!

Way to go Timmy :cool1:

Steven tried baseball 1 year and really hated it and that was the end of his sports career.

Hope everyone is having a great week

Dave
