.....We are all planning on wearing costumes...lol Anyone else planning on wearing costumes?......

...... I'm now looking for a service to pick us up at the hotel and take us to the port. Cheapest I have found is $165 round trip for the 8 of us. We are also staying at the hotel one night when we arrive from the cruise (couldn't get a flight out until the next morning, Sunday).

Also has anyone purchased Trip Insurance? Who through? AAA is quoting me $121 total, is that a good price?

Michelle pixiedust:

Welcome to your family on joining our haunted little voyage! We're wearing costumes! Plus we're packing pirate costumes for pirate nite! AND I have two tuxedos I'll be packin' because my dear daughter asked me to dress up for our last Magic sailing. SO I got a couple of tuxes on Ebay (of all places, eh?). I'm not really a tux sort of guy buy I was willing to go along with the idea for my daughter... and now I sort of don't mind at all! And (in advance) if you're planning or not planning on packing tuxes and formal gear... I'd like to volunteer that there are not all that many folks doing the full formal thing on the Disneyt cruise. There were actually MORE folks doing full formal on the recent Carnival cruise we took (photo link in my signature line below). So... on costumes... that's great that you're bring them aboard!

As for transportation - $165 to swing a partyof 8 to and from sounds like a really fair deal! We use a rental car because we come in a little sooner and like to run around a bit. The cost for rental cars is about $50-60 a day includeing taxes, fuel and tolls. So, 165 is indeed pretty reasonable.

Staying at a hotel by the airport is pretty sound planning. You fly in and go straight to the hotel to relax til morning. Yeah... that's our routine too on our 1st night in. We come in from the west coast so we can never arrive any sooner than 5PM without taking a red eye... and we won't take those with young kids in tow.

ANd on travel insurance we have sailed 15+ times (or 17+ depending on whether youask me or my DS) and never had or needed travel insurance. But if someone in your party has a health issue you might want to consider it.

Welcome aboard,

Cheers! :thumbsup2

you want a good laugh check out ebay.com and put this number in your seach 6607423007
You want to see some serious disney stuff.... :confused3 :confused3

Dave,
I would like to convince DH to rebook when we are on in Oct.. but we will see how much it is...Either the cruise or adding on to our DVC....

Kristin

Yeah...

Just looked at the listing for ebay. It's pretty wild. Of course the inventory is so vague I can't see how anyone would be able to forumale a bid or valuation. But - again I say it's pretty wild!

Plus we were wondering about our likely rebooking for 2007. You suppose we coiuld rebook now and obtain the ship-board benefits and possibly the price aboard ship IF it is better?

Cheers! :thumbsup2

WELOCME MICHELE,,
I will add your information to our first page...

This will be our first cruise as well...Hoping it will be great how can it not be on Disney...Sounds great that you know when your already arriving and all..I am still trying to figure out my flights with the help of the capt. crash....thanks again...

Welcome again this board is for sure the place to learn it all...Ask away and they all will answer.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I'm so excited! Just came back from Kmart were I bought a bunch of hoddies for me and the kids with Disney on them... only $6/e! I got Eyore and Tinkerbell (love Tinkerbell) and got Mickey for the boys.

Kritter your girls are darling!!! Great picture!

Well today I'm going to work on my door signs. We have Disney Magic Artist around here somewhere so I have to install that.

I didn't know that there was a pirate night on the Oct. cruise!! So if we are going to be Pirates for Halloween, does it seem weird to also wear them for the Pirate night event? My boys and dh are big into pirates...lol pirate:

Can't wait! October seems so far away... however it will be my 40th birthday so it doesn't need to be here too soon....lol

Everyone have a great day!!

Sounds like the hoodies were a great deal..We do not have a Kmart anywhere close to us...

I would like to start my door sign as well..What is this you are talking about is it a program??

I think that saves you having to bring extra stuff by being pirates twice...If the boys are into them then go for it....My girls are so into the princess they will probally dress as one of the everynight even when it is not Halloween...

Oct. does seem far away I just booked our limo to pick us up and take us to the port and back...That got me wishing it was already here..Now I am trying to book my flight....

thanks that picture of my girls was taken a month ago they are four now...They are really sweet...Twins if you could not tell...

Hope you ahve a great day..We are happy to have a new face here...
Kristin

Michelle, :welcome:

My kids will definitely be dressing up for Halloween. I'd like for the four of us to match costumes if dh will go along with it. Don't know what yet, though. I bought a Jack Sparrow hat/wig combo for ds, and will make a Jack Sparrow costume for him for pirate night. I'll make or buy a girl's pirate costume for dd when time gets closer. I have the added challenge of doing all of this on the sly because my kids don't know about the cruise. They think we're going on a vacation to Wash DC. We will reveal our real vacation destination the morning we leave!

Sounds like you are getting so much of your planning done already. Your way ahead of me! But, all of this planning is part of the fun, ya know?

Kristin,
How are you all doing now? Any results for your Dad yet?

Buck,
Sounds like the Jack Sparow costume will be great...I jsut booked our transportation from WDW to the port and back....I got a great deal..>The man misquoted me and said that since it was his mistake he would honor the price...I was so happy and think the kids will enjoy the limo ride...It will add to the excitement of the cruise....

We are all on the mend and I am hoping this is the last of winter illnesses....My dad has decided to have surgery...But first needs to see a cardiologist before the dr. will allow him to have the surgery..Due in part to his weight, high blood pressure...etc...So onec he sees him he will have the surgery scheduled...Then the healing can begin and hopefully the surgery will go well..Makes me sooo nervous...The cancer is in the beg...very beg. stages..The dr. did say that if they did not have this early detection then he would have never showed any symptoms for about ten years...So that is great news.....

Since everyone is talking about door signs, I thought I would share a few of mine!

This is just what I have done so far. I got a ton of ideas from the creative design boards. I really have to thank Juliaansnicksmom, Beigi, and Ladylucca for letting me incorporate some of thier designs in mine.
I think we might make one or two of them into a shirt using iron on transfer paper. I have kind of become addicted to making these signs. I made about 10 of them for our last cruise!

Heather

Thinking about booking for 2007? OH YEAH! We're on the waiting list for the repositioning and european cruises that are rumored for 2007. :) I'd LOVE to spend two weeks on the water with Disney!! Whoo hoo!!!

oh your door sign are wonderful...

I need help in creating mine...

Thanks!

Check out the creative design board. They have tons of tips and ideas to get you started! There are a few different programs out there. I used print shop, since I was already familiar with the program. If you need help let me know. I would be more than happy to help you, or anyone on the cruise, what I can!

Heather,
Thanks I will...check it out.. This way here I can get an idea and maybe then I can share it with you and you can tell me where to go and what to do next...

How many signs did you make one or did you change it throughout the cruise??

Thanks,
Kristin

I made several signs and kept them up the whole cruise. This time I might change them each day. Not really sure yet. It depends on how many I make!

Let me know when (if) you need any help!

Heather

ok great Heather....

Let me know how your signs begin to take shape...

I first start with clip art or get an idea from someone else's design. I then try to think of what I want the sign to say. What dackdrop (if any). If I want a picture, etc. I then start to piece it all together. If you see a gesign that someone on the creative board has, send them a pm. They will often send you the image and you can then modify or personalize it how you want. What type pf program will you be using?

thanks for the ideas...

I think I will beusing Print shop...Just because I have it and it is easy to use...I also have a disney program that I might use...I am going to start playing around with it...

This is our first cruise - Me, DH, DS (12), DS (6). Sister and her family are also going and they have a DS (4) and a DD (12).

Big Boat, Open Water, .....I'm a little nervous :scared:

I have really no idea what to expect, but Halloween is my FAVORITE time of the year! So if we were going on a Disney Cruise, then this is the best time for me!! We are all planning on wearing costumes...lol Anyone else planning on wearing costumes?

Since this trip is cutting deep into our budget we decided on a cat. 11 room. If we went any better then I would have to forego my Spa treatment ;)

Kids are VERY excited... my youngest keeps asking me if we are leaving soon.

We are arriving Friday night, probably staying near the airport since our flight comes in late (11pm or so).

DH is paying off our balance today - yeah! I'm sure I'll faint when the CC bill comes in next month...lol

Here's hoping and praying we have GREAT weather in October!!

Michelle pixiedust:

welcome aboard!! Not that you want advice but here I go..........:listen:

Insurance is an absolute MUST! We have been displaced by a hurricane twice now on DCL. The first time that $200 insurance investment led to a $2700 payout for accomodations all over Florida. Would not think about sailing without it now. People on that particular cruise bought through AAA and were pleased with the results, I would just use that, it's easy.

I would try to stay at the Hyatt in MCO (Orlando airport) if you getting in that late Friday night. We did that last year with 11 of us it was soooo easy, and we were all tired.

Think about renting a 12 passenger van to get to the port. This only cost us $60 each way last year and we stopped to buy some beverages on the way! You can rent it the night before at the airport and then drop it off in Port Canaveral. Try Budget they seem to have the best deals. This way you don't have to tip either! DH just drops us all off at the port to get checked in and goes to Budget to drop off and then they bring him to the port. Very convenient.

You will have the time of your life. Bring a credit card for deposit on the next cruise because you will get a 10% discount if you book on board and YOU WILL WANT TO!

Get ready for the vacation of your life.

Door signs..............highly advised. It is a great way for the kids, grandparents, and those of us who might have a few drinks to identify the correct room!
