...... I'm now looking for a service to pick us up at the hotel and take us to the port. Cheapest I have found is $165 round trip for the 8 of us. We are also staying at the hotel one night when we arrive from the cruise (couldn't get a flight out until the next morning, Sunday).
Also has anyone purchased Trip Insurance? Who through? AAA is quoting me $121 total, is that a good price?

Welcome to your family on joining our haunted little voyage! We're wearing costumes! Plus we're packing pirate costumes for pirate nite! AND I have two tuxedos I'll be packin' because my dear daughter asked me to dress up for our last Magic sailing. SO I got a couple of tuxes on Ebay (of all places, eh?). I'm not really a tux sort of guy buy I was willing to go along with the idea for my daughter... and now I sort of don't mind at all! And (in advance) if you're planning or not planning on packing tuxes and formal gear... I'd like to volunteer that there are not all that many folks doing the full formal thing on the Disneyt cruise. There were actually MORE folks doing full formal on the recent Carnival cruise we took (photo link in my signature line below). So... on costumes... that's great that you're bring them aboard!
As for transportation - $165 to swing a partyof 8 to and from sounds like a really fair deal! We use a rental car because we come in a little sooner and like to run around a bit. The cost for rental cars is about $50-60 a day includeing taxes, fuel and tolls. So, 165 is indeed pretty reasonable.
Staying at a hotel by the airport is pretty sound planning. You fly in and go straight to the hotel to relax til morning. Yeah... that's our routine too on our 1st night in. We come in from the west coast so we can never arrive any sooner than 5PM without taking a red eye... and we won't take those with young kids in tow.
ANd on travel insurance we have sailed 15+ times (or 17+ depending on whether youask me or my DS) and never had or needed travel insurance. But if someone in your party has a health issue you might want to consider it.
Welcome aboard,
Cheers!
