Crash, have a safe and "Magical" trip!!

Craig thanks all of you for the happy birthdays.

Kristin, tonight I made a "Golden buttercup layer cake" with chocolate buttercream frosting. The recipes are from the Magnolia bake shop in NYC. It took a good part of my day, but was well worth it!! What have you been doing. I think it's been almost 24 hrs since we last spoke :scared1: ! What did you think about Survivor? I'll have to DVR it from now on because The Office and Greys's Anatomy are starting this coming Thurday. Desperate H.W.
Sunday!!

Oh the cake sounds great I will be right over...LOL!!!!!!!!!

Survivor was awesome...I can not wait for Sunday night..Bruce will be at the Yankee Red Sox game so I will be camped out in front of the TV.....I love when all of the new shows start back up.......What did you think of it???????

Here's my last post befor we fly! Gotta run to the airport. And would you believe it - I posted 1,000 entries to the other thread?! Now arn't you glad I didn't stay and hog up all the real estate here?

I know some folks ov er there think I'm a nut - and of course you all here know better, eh?

We don't have interent access on the ship as it's all measured service - we may do without (or buy very little time)... so we'll chat again after the 29th! Take care everyone!

Wouldn't that be awesome! We were at the Ron Jon this summer and saw a rocket launch..........it really was amazing. From what I gathered down at the beach it is more spectacular than a shuttle launch.

Princess olivia,
Rick and I LOVE Survivor. We have watched every season so far. I guess we will tape it when we go to Disney World and on the Cruise.

Happy Cruising Crash- I was originally signed up for that cruise too!!! Tell me what I missed when you get back.

Man, you really are watching the schedule! That was released at 2PM today! Have you found a time on that launch yet? Oops. Nevermind. Just found it - TBD. We are flying in that day! It would stink if I missed it by a couple of hours! Of course, they have had problems with getting this bird in the air, so I'm not sure it would be worth changing my flight for!

I totally approve of your launch schedule! That would make for some nice fireworks for the sail-away party - that launch pad is what? 3 miles from the port? That would be about as close as you can get (unless you work for NASA/USAF/etc.).

awol- Cool picture of Cody with his hat....he looks so proud of it! Did he just get those items after his most recent surgery? How did you arrange for them?

We love Survivor as well. I don't think the whole "race separation" is going to be that big of deal. In the end it's just people having to work as a team....I guess it will be more interesting to see if it has an impact when they merge.

AWOL,
Great photos.....Did you get to meet JEff????

Cody looks soo happy with the hat on....

if the Oct 25th rocket launch gets pushed back to the 28th - will we have to deal with the traffic that a shuttle launch brings - or are the rocket launches not as big a draw???? :confused3

Hey! I'm just lurking here to see what's happening on this years Halloween cruise! I'll be on the one next year! I want to read all of your trip reports and hope to see some of you rebook for our cruise and give us some tips.

He got the picture & hat right after his surgery. Jeff was just heading to the Cook Islands then. The buff came a few weeks ago when he got back from the islands. In fact, he sent that the day after he was on the Today show and started the feeding frenzy on the racial divides.

His Mom, Barb, is a close friend of mine & she was telling Jeff about the surgery Cody had. Jeff's response was to send some stuff to Cody. He loves it (cheeto face & all).

Jeff also sent the same stuff to the son of a friend of mine. Her son has spina bifida and LOVES Survivor, so he was having a Survivor Bday party. So, I asked Barb if she could get a couple of things for him. Jeff really came through. Her son was so excited!!

Last year, Jeff did some stuff for my parents 40th anniversary. He really personalized the notes to them about how they are an inspiration to him and his desire to have a long-lasting marriage. It was very sincere and they have his autographed pic hanging on the wall in their office.

Jeff is a great guy who managed to realize that real life still exists while living in a city that tends to forget that.

I've only met him once about 3 years ago. His Mom & I (and a couple of other friends) were in Palm Springs for a big conference of sorts. Jeff drove over from LA to surprise her & take her to dinner. Unfortunately, she was booked solid with commitments, so she couldn't go. So, we met him for a minute, she chatted a few minutes more & then he went back home.

You can check out Jeff's family (minus one brother, his wife & their two kids) in this weeks In Touch magazine p.66-67.

Awol and Choc Marg, Cody is really beautiful. He must have been thrilled beyond words to have gotten such a cool gift from Jeff. I love it when he co-hosts Regis and Kelly. He is clearly a super nice guy. He's so cute about getting married.

I think breaking the tribes up by race is a big deal. It can breed prejudice. Can you imagine what school age kids could be bringing in for comments from watching this show with parents that might make ignorant comments? Kids are already harsh and we have been teaching them for a very long time that we are all equal. Division among the races has always been a hot issue. It was fascinating to watch but in an uncomfortable can't avert your eyes from a car wreck sort of way. Maybe it will foster more tolerance. We'll see.

Watching the shuttle launch would be one of the coolest things to see. I remember reading a post about a family staying at a nearby hotel and they didn't know it was the launch day. When the shuttle went off (very early in the a.m.) the family fell out of bed and were terrified. That would be pretty scary if you didn't know what was happening.

I don't know if the rockets cause the traffic that a shuttle would. We never left the Ron Jon the day that the rocket went of in June. I truly can't imagine not knowing and that waking me out of bed.......YIKES! I am certain I would believe we were under attack.

We haven't been big Survivor fans since the first season, when we were hooked! I can even tell you my exact location to watch the finale. We lost touch since then. (Although the Jeff guys is extrememly handsome and I like the stories....I might watch it this season from listening to you guys!) I see what you are saying about the parents who will breed predjudice by the division, but you must also remember that many, many will have conversations that are worthwhile and meaningful! It takes a few generations to stop the hate, but I do think we are on our way, I can see a huge difference in my siblings (and me) from the attitudes of my parents. My parents never even believed they had any predjudice  . We'll see......I could go on and on about that one as you can probably tell. :stir: So I will leave it at that.

Have a great weekend all..........(see you soon!)

OK, a little off topic. Browsing during halftime. Missy what are these earplane things I saw on the main board? I usually just chew gum like a cow or hold my nose and blow until my eyes pop out trying to clear my ears.

They are these little plastic plugs you put in your ears. My husband has big problems with his ears and flying.........this works for him. He has had trips really impacted because he couldn't get his ears right after flying for days. Since we found the earplanes......no problems. I think you can get them at CVS or Walgreeens....I would google it and see what you come up with. They are not expensive and come in adult and kids sizes, they minimize the pressure....almost looks like a super mini plunger....something like that anyway they work.

GO BUCKS!!

Missy
