Halloween Costume Rules?

Hello! DH & I will be taking our first Disney cruise this October (so excited!). We love Halloween and tend to go all out with costumes, generally a Disney couple. We want to go as Ariel and Eric this year.

Are there any rules against character lookalike/floor length costumes on the ships like there are in the park? I didn't see any rules on the Halloween on the High Seas page on the website, so I just want to double check before I spend anything on costumes. I heard the adult costume contest has a "most disney" award, so I am thinking it's okay... but I just want to be 100%!

Any experiences with this? Thanks!

I believe the only rule I've heard about is the "no masks walking around the ship". If your costume requires a mask, you can wear it for the actual judging portion of the event, but not just walking around the ship.

Onboard, there is no "no costumes" rule, like at the parks.

To add from our Halloween cruise, and it may/ may not be an issue for you.

Do not bring toys or props that resemble guns, knives or other related implements, as these items will not be allowed onboard.

The costumes we saw ran the gamut from simple and homemade to Hollywood wardrobe and make-up extraordinary. I don't recall seeing any rules. Tasteful and kid friendly is an obvious limitation. We saw nothing risqué.

There are several categories. Each category had five contestants IIRC. The CMs pick the contestants. The crowd picks the winners. Most extravagant or expensive was not the overriding factor in the crowds choices. There were long, floor length costumes present. It was a lot of fun.

Not a great shot but it shows a long costume on stage for the contest.

This is super helpful, thanks! I see a Disney couple (cinderella & charming) so we should be fine then. Just wanted to be sure I didn't accidentally break any rules!

I do not think you will have an issue if your costume really looks like Eric and Ariel. On the last Halloween cruise that I did, there was an amazing Bert and Mary Poppins, costumes were perfect including the parrot umbrella and chimney brush.
