I'm already planning our next trip, we all have decided on 10 days at POFQ. Right now i'm thinking late OCT. I want to be able to enjoy the food and wine festival, And i'm a HUGE Halloween fan. My DH got her holiday at WDW, we just returned from the BC for 7 days for christmas. So my question is, How is WDW during this time of year, crowds, weather, halloween decor....etc. Also if anyone has pics from this time of year, that would be great!

1) Halloween is not a big deal at the resorts.
2) There are some "harvest-type" decorations, but not many.
3) The event is celebrated during MNSSHP at MK.

We had a really great time in 06 during October (plus got free dining because we got there at the tail end of September) - although there isn't much theming, most people at Pop had their room windows decorated. We spent the last part of our vacation at HRH at Universal and really loved that - if you love Halloween you have to to to Halloween Horror Nights - MNSSHP is fun too, but really is "not so scary" whereas HHN is over the top. Crowds were pretty good, weather was great.

MNSSHP is fantastic! In 06 we went to both MNSSHP and MVMCP and imho there was no comparison. The Boo To You parade is amazing and so are the fireworks. Some of the costumes are out of this world. You can tell people really put a lot of thought and time into their costumes. We are going again this October and we are so excited. We are staying 6 nights and if possible we will go to the party twice.

As for decorations at the resorts. I don't remember anything special. We stayed at the ASMu. Mk was decorated very well though. I don't remember about the other 3 parks.

It was pretty warm and humid when we were there (end of Sept-begining of Oct). The crowd level was fine except for the Food and Wine festival. It was very crowded but we had fun anyway.

You'll have a great time!

We stayed at the POR for this years MNSSHP. There was no decorations there but at the MK, it was fantastic!! Can't wait to go again this year.

If you like Halloween you must get tickets for MNSSHP !! It's a great party, the parade and fireworks alone are worth the ticket price IMHO. We went to it in September and really loved it.

Another thing I want to try next time we are there at Halloween time is the haunted hayride at Fort Wilderness. This is the info for it from 2007:

We were at the Poly the 3rd week in Oct with past year and it was awesome!! The MK is the only park that gets decked out for the holidays which is kind of a shame, but if you go after the F&WF starts, Epcot is all decked out for that! My DBF and I are going the week of Halloween this year and we can't wait. Definitely do MNSSHP if you can- the atmosphere of the party is way beyond MVMCP (and I love MVMCP!) Enjoy and maybe we will see you there!!! :goodvibes

The resorts have special activities on Halloween day/night. They had a great trick/treat, dance and charcter meet at the Boardwalk. Each resort gives you a paper with there activitys for the day. We went this past year and had a ball. We also did MNSSHP but not on Halloween night. Epcot is very crowded due to the F&WF.

we have never gone during FWF but I have a shocking question, Can you AVOID the FWF at Epcot and still see the FW stuff reasonably well? DH :scared1: hates going to the countries ( I know, WHY am I even still talking to him? ) and would HATE being in a crowd at the countires even more. BUT I have to se Soarin' and the other must do's at Epcot. What time does the FW begin each day?
thanks!

You can absolutely do FW at Epcot and avoid most of the F&WF. He should consider giving WS a try during the festival though- the booths are really really neat. GOod luck

I always suggest a stop at the Campground as well. A lot of the campers will have candy for Trick-or-treaters, and the decorations have even made it into the Orlando Sentinel. Fort Wilderness also has a "Haunted Hayride" that runs throughout October, and is a blast.

I found this video that shows a few decorations...
