Since I'm going to be at WDW the last week of October, including on Halloween, I had a couple questions:

I don't plan on going to the Magic Kingdom on Halloween day simply due to the Not-So-Scary Party. (I'm one of those people who prefers smaller crowds regardless of the events going on. The last time I went to WDW was in late November, and I thought the park crowds were ideal/minimal.)

Are there Halloween events going on the entire last week of October? If so, does it seem to effect park attendance? Are any of the parks closed off to people unless they have special kinds of event tickets?

Thanks in advance.

hmmmmm - October!
Darn I'm there in November. ;)

Wear the hat - I'll find you. :rotfl:

I love that time of year! I will also be at WDW during that time frame. I try to make it to each of the resorts - they all are part of a pumpkin carving contest - we visitors get to vote for the one we like the best. I will see if I can find some pics...

ok - found 'em and photobucket is FINALLY up again:
these are ALL pumpkins....

Wow.....I really like that hamburger pumpkin.

We were there last year during that same time period. Honestly, the only crowded time that we experienced was when we were at Epcot on Friday. As expected, the crowds grew to an uncomfortable level by about 5pm. The power drinkers were making their treks around the WS early and we got out of there ASAP. It was my birthday and I had bought a passport, which I had all of the folks write in there how to say "Happy Birthday" in their languages. We knew going in that Friday night at Epcot was a bad choice. We had no intentions of staying that night, but by the time we left, we knew that the DIS's warnings were not unfounded.

Crowds at MK & MGM were fine. With the use of FP and some common sense touring principles from touringplans.com it was very managable.

Have you ever been? (It's my favourite event in all of WDW, will see it again in 2009 before another 7-day DCL run!)

That kind of surprises me, because I thought it would be the Magic Kingdom that would be insanely crowded. Thanks for the tippage. I'll keep that in mind.

I've never been. I'm not much of a special event kind of person. (Although, I must say the MK on Christmas day, while the crowds were absolutely insane, it was interesting and gorgeous to say the least.) Crowds are not my friend. :lmao:

I havent been to an event, but I did walk down Main Street one day last year, and it was beautiful! They went all out on the decorations! And everyone who I know who has been to MNSSH raves about it!

Now I plan on being there that weekend. Quick weekend trip. Down on Friday morning, hit the parks in the afternoon, MNSSHP that night, KTTK tour the next morning, hit the parks again in the afternoon and eveing, and follow-up park(s) visit on Sunday before I leave.:scared1:
I don't mind the crowds since I'm flying solo and can do what I want.pirate:

I've never been either-
we're both virgins - that could be fun!

the halloween decorations are amazing, we liked the event the last couple of years...but after 3 in a row we are taking a break! we dressed up the first two years, but the rain stopped us last year.

I will be there over Halloween, but am not planning on this event as of now.

here are our costumes from the first 2 years...can you guess what we were?

That's very cute. :cutie: :cutie: Do they have costume contests?

Does anyone know if the parks require a special kind of ticket for admission on Halloween? (Is the Halloween party only at the Magic Kingdom?)

I just want to plan accordingly since it'll be our last full day at WDW.

During the day its a regular ticket.

After the park closes, it reopens as a hard ticket event.
