Halloween 2011. Oct 29th on the Magic

Happy Wednesday! Boy, did we have some thunderstorms last night - and lots of rain. I ran from the truck to the front door (could not be more than 15 steps) and I had to change my shirt as I was soaked. This morning it is quiet - so far anyway.

My Dad is better but still in the hospital. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers, I am sure it is working.

sailworkless - youngest DS had them once - he had a buzz and I was just sitting waiting for one of the older boys to finish some sort of practice, he was in my lap and a could see them moving. CREEPY but I went home, washed his bedding, got the special shampoo and that was the end of it. Thank heaven that was it. So I hope that you have the situation under control and they are all gone.

Paid for our dining plan today - am going to try and book Cinderella's Castle for breakfast on the 29th. We shall see. We also have to pick up the rental car that day so I guess I will take the earlier time.

Take care - we fly 18 weeks from today. Actually, 18 weeks from this very moment, we will be in the air.

I am hoping your dad is improving daily. I know how difficult it can be.

I am completely impressed if you manage to pick up a rental, eat breakfast at the Castle and make it to the port and disembark all in the same morning. We will be lucky if we can catch a quick bite at the hotel and make it to the port on Saturday morning.

And, we could also take the bus over as that would be the absolute simplest thing to do. We shall see - just need to convince myself I do not need Pepsi - well, until Key West maybe.

Holy cow. Are you flying an airline that might let you fly earlier as standby - without charging you some sort of stupid fee that is. I have never tried that and have no idea. Are you on a non-stop? I so get the weather but I think our chances are good for no snow/ice/mess. I bet you will be fine but I understand the stress too.

Packing - I have a list but am clueless really. I don't want to dress up for pirate night or Halloween - could do Palo one night but I sort of like the pirate night menu. SO confused. I guess I can call my trusty Castaway Club and see if they can tell me yet what the nights will be - probably too early. We don't have any Concierge folks do we?? They might have access to more/better info than the rest of us.

DixieLady908, I can completely understand the OCD regarding traveling and packing. I was a trainer for an Oil & Gas company for 10 years and traveled 80% of the year. When it comes to packing I am a complete obsessive. I have checklists for my checklists. My husband thinks I'm crazy because I already have a Contico container set up in our spare bedroom with items that are specific for the trip. My laptop is also covered in virtual sticky notes. I am sure I am over thinking everything. I guess since this is our very first family vacation I want everything to be perfect, even though I know that is impossible. We have a lot we are celebrating on this cruise so that makes it even more special. My husband has successfully survived three tours in the Middle East, I am celebrating my 1 year cancer free and we are celebrating my daughter getting into a special kindergarten art school. Needless to say the pressure is on to make this a very memorable trip. I am though regretting booking the park and cruise back to back. I think it is just too much for a rookie to handle. I know a lot of experienced Disney goers can do it but for me it has been very stressful.

I have started keeping a journal of all the things I read, hear and see online and from friends. I don't want to miss out on anything (yes I know that is unrealistic as well). Guess I am a glass half full kind of girl. I am always hoping for the impossible and of course the Disney motto does seem to be "Where dreams come true"......

Glindamood, I agree it would really be great to find out in advance what the nights are going to be like. Someone mentioned that they usually switch the "Formal" night if it falls on Halloween so that more people are encouraged to wear a costume. I know my husband and I are not dressing up but of course the little princess will. We did discuss doing something small for pirate night for the DH and I but my daughter has insisted on dressing up like a girl pirate. She said that she has to show boys that girls can be pirates too!


As usual I feel as though I have rambled on forever.

Desirre - A big congrats on your year cancer free and a huge thank-you for your DH for his service. You do have lots to celebrate indeed. Just take things as they come and enjoy your family.

Happy Friday! Working from home this morning and then done for the day. Family all home this weekend - including the three grandpups. DH is coming home tomorrow as well but will head back to camp on Sunday morning. It will be a fast and busy weekend that I will spend most of in the kitchen.

Good Morning everyone. I hope this finds each of you having a wonderful Friday. Here we have cloudy skies and a chance of rain. This is an extremely crazy day for us as I will be spending the day pampering my DD before she sets of to the Military Father-Daughter Ball being hosted on post. Today she and a friend will get taken to brunch, have their hair and nails done get a miniature photo session and whisked off to the ball in a limo with their daddy's later this evening. I can't wait! I only wish mommies where invited to watch. At least I know they will have lots of fun.

Well on to a current Disney report..... I used my 50% off coupon at Joann's yesterday and found the fabric I will be using to "try" to make our Fish Extender with. I am hoping it comes out as well as I have it pictured in my mind. Needless to say I am really not a crafty person so this will be stretching my crafting abilities. I will have to do the no sew version as I've honestly never seen a sewing machine much less turned one on. I managed to find a link on line that shows step by step instructions so I am hoping this all works out. I will also be doing a test run of my FE gifts this weekend. My previous idea was nixed by my husband, however, he really like my new idea we just need to see if it is going to come out the way we hope.

My DD is so excited about this trip. All she can talk about is the cruise.

I'm like you when it comes to crafty....I just dont have the thought or the talent to do it so I dont. My sister has all the crafty talent and my son all the artistic talent, so at least I have "go to" people if I need them.

Happy Saturday!!! Made it through dinner last night and all is right with the world. Even have the eggs boiled already for potato salad. Yes, that was hard work now wasn't it?? Think I will shower and all before I actually start the potatoes. Ben (oldest DS) is going to smoke a turkey, I will bake a ham (more hard work) and we will have enough food to last a week or so. I will send stuff home with everyone (including all the turkey as I don't like smoked turkey at all). I also have to bake a German Chocolate cake for Drew's (youngest DS) birthday.

Desiree - we would like some DETAILS and pictures please of last night's festivities. I bet she had a blast and I also bet your DH was so proud he could have just popped.

Denise - pretzel salad has a crust made of pretzels that you bake, a cream cheese layer, strawberry jello with strawberries in it and then topped with good old Cool Whip. Let me know if you want the recipe, I will be happy to post it.

So, I guess I best go and do something in the kitchen. Take care all.

Well getting new carpet installed today...just waiting for them to come, my house is a mess with furniture all over the place...

Cutting the lawn today and thats about it...may take a drive into chicago tomorrow to visit my dad.....that's if I have my house back in order before then.

Well, another weekend has come and gone. DH is back at camp and my out of town DS's have gone home. What fun and it is always so special to see them.

My dad is home from the hospital too - still has a lot of fluid but he can carry on a conversation (something he couldn't do last week as it took more air than he had) so things are improving. I am heading down to see them Friday and looking forward to that visit.

Enjoy your evening - I need to finish up the dirty pots.
