Hallmark Movies ❤️ comfort & joy

It looks like it's going to be Dicken's A Christmas Carol, told with a Nashville spin.

Speaking of, A Christmas Carol. . . and Nashville-ish, Dolly Parton has a new Christmas special on Netflix. It's a musical, directed by director/choreographer, Debbie Allen, (of the TV show, Fame.) It's called Christmas on the Square. Christine Baranski, (of the movie, Mamma Mia,) plays a scrooge, and Dolly plays an angel.

Here's a preview and a little blurb about how Dolly had donated $1 million to Vanderbilt University, back in April to help research for the Coronavirus. They used the money to fund Moderna's research, which now has the second COVID vaccine almost ready.

Go DOLLY! She doesn't just play an angel, she IS an angel in real life! :littleangel:

Do you have the info? Which nite? :hyper:

Dolly will also be performing at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. It's actually no longer a "parade" this year. The long parade part has been canceled due to not wanting crowds to gather. The televised "parade" will only be one block long, near Macy's. The balloons will be pulled by autos, instead of the groups of human balloon pullers, to keep them safe. The area around Macy's will likely be barricaded off, a few blocks away, so people can't even gather close enough to see anything.

The event WILL have the Rockettes, who probably have been rehearsing in a pandemic bubble all this time, as well as getting COVID tested often.

Of course, Santa will show up at the end. :santa:

Dolly and other celebs will have pre-recorded performances ready, to keep them safe, too.

I love Dolly! - music, movies...just a person. My mom was a big fan as well, so part of it is a connection to her, but Dolly's Imagination Library is also one of my favorite charities.

I'm glad they're not trying to hold the regular parade, but also glad they are televising something. Having it on while I'm making cheese balls on Thanksgiving morning is so much a part of my tradition.

And thanks, Mandy, for the info on the CBS special as well!

Did anyone watch her Coat of Many Colors movies several years ago?

Yes. And I might admit to having purchased the movie in Comcast On Demand. :rolleyes1

Watched Timeless Christmas the other night and it was good. Although the realist in me kept thinking 'how are they going to get a birth certificate/SS card so that he can get a job'? Amnesia??? I did have its funny moments in addition to the sentimental ones.

I caught it last night, and had the same thought about a SSN. I thought the way they resolved the story was nice. Although I expected the ending, the how and why went a little deeper than some of these movies typically do. I like time travel stories anyway (one of my favorite movies is Somewhere In Time).

I also like Time Travel movies. We enjoyed Timeless Christmas, and it reminded me of an episode of the Amazing Stories reboot on Apple TV called The Cellar. This reboot was hit and miss, and this episode was the standout. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9134736/

It's a struggle 10 minutes in watching this Nashville Christmas movie and finding things that bug me. 🙈

Just watched Christmas at Graceland (I’ve seen it before) with one of my sons and husband. They like me (previously) pointed out everything wrong about Memphis in the movie. My 9 yo was quick to point out it doesn’t snow here.

Time for Nashville Christmas Carol.

I'm doing the same with Nashville Christmas Carol currently
