Hallmark Movies ❤️ comfort & joy

I watched The Christmas Yule Blog. (Lifetime movie.) I liked it. It was cute, funny, quirky and sweet. It was about a blog travel writer sent to Carte De Amor, New Mexico, to write about her experiences in a little southwestern/Mexican influenced town.

For those that watched the Signed, Sealed & Delivered, series on HMM, which I raved about in a previous Hallmark thread, it turns out the actor who plays Ramone, is the lead actor in this, although I didn't recognize him in this without his mustache and thick accent.

Definitely some plot holes from a sci-fi perspective but that’s to be expected with a Hallmark Christmas movie, but it was still really good. And it seems plot holes with time travel movies is just par for the course. I love the movie About Time, but when you really stop to think about how the time travel works in that movie and the amount of times the rules are changed or just ignored you can go crazy!

Yes, with non sci-fi "time travel" movies, one can't squint and look too closely as some stuff just doesn't make sense. :upsidedow

Watched Timeless Christmas the other night and it was good. Although the realist in me kept thinking 'how are they going to get a birth certificate/SS card so that he can get a job'? Amnesia??? I did have its funny moments in addition to the sentimental ones.

Watched the 12 Gifts of Christmas (?) last night. That one was good. Predictable, but enjoyable. The actress looks familiar but nothing that she's been in rang a bell.

Those were my exact thoughts during that movie. Or even, what will their names be?

Just watched Staging Christmas with Soleil Moon Frye. Not from this year, but from 2019. Not worth watching, IMO.

That's one of the movies I deleted the other day after starting to look at the review ratings on the IMDb.com. It only got a 5.6. Glad I was proven correct to delete it unwatched. (Most of my Hallmark favorites averaged between 6.6 - 7.2.)

I love Signed, Sealed & Delivered so I'll be on the lookout for him!

It's from last year but I just watched today Entertaining Christmas it wasn't bad per se but it felt lackluster. I just couldn't connect with the leads. I normally like Jodie Sweetin and I've always like Brendan Fehr but yeah just wasn't working. Also the whole reason for her being there was the dad coming back but when that happened it was soooo anticlimactic. Maybe they should have just done it like the family won a contest or something? IDK.

I watched A Welcome Home Christmas today that I had recorded Wednesday. It grew on me with a super sweet ending to boot :)
This was the first Christmas movie of this season my husband and I watched together (I've watched a few not new ones in the past month or two). We just finished it. It was a pretty good one not amazing but not at all bad. I'm a sucker for military ones. I liked the chemistry between the two. I was sorta used to Marc Blucas in military roles but I really liked Brandon Quinn.

I'm a sucker for dogs (and cats!) too so that was a very 'tug at your heartstrings' moment at the end for me

I watched, A Welcome Home Christmas, last night. I really liked it. It was well written. I'll tell you one thing about watching a previous, horrible (to me,) Lifetime bomb, it really makes you appreciate the well written movies. :lmao:

I also like the military movies, honoring what our troops and their families are going through. And I am a sucker for the dog movies. :dogdance:

The only thing my husband thought was "meh" is that they made Chloe a bit too chipper in his opinion and it was really just the military theme the he felt didn't match up with her doing tours.

Yes, I didn't feel she showed having had any history of being in the military. There is a certain emotional weightiness that I thinks comes with having been done tours. With that chipper attitude, it would have made more sense if her character had been a civilian counselor, brought in to help troops coming back from the war, than someone who has served herself.

OMG totally!

Yes yes yes! This is exactly what both my husband and I were saying. The perfect solution was to just have made her civilian and it would have been much more believable.

This is my new favorite holiday candy. It might have been out for a while, but I just discovered it. :cloud9: It's a limited edition, so it won't be around for long.

Ghirardelli Holiday Dark Chocolate Peppermint Bark Chocolate Squares. They are crushed, red peppermints 🍬 that add a little bit of crunch & mint, in a layer of thin white chocolate over a thin layer of dark chocolate. :lovestruc

I found them while standing in line at TJ Maxx. They have that corridor of shelving units that one has to wend through while standing in line, which are filled with hundreds of last minute, impulse buy items. These Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Peppermint Bark Squares were there. They are only $7 for a big 13.5 oz bag. It's a good price as Target has a 10 oz bag for $11.

Anyone else have a favorite holiday candy, cookie or treat at this time of the year? 🎄

For me it’s the Lofthouse cookies. They are a sugar cookie covered in frosting and very hard to stop eating!

They are good aren't they? While we won't be visiting her anytime soon my husband's grandmother who lives about 3 1/2 hours away from us always stocks her kitchen peninsula with various kinds of chocolate during this time of year. She knows I love dark chocolate (and she does as wel) so she always made sure to have dark chocolate ones. Usually it was the peppermint bark you're talking about, I would have to pace myself :rotfl2:

I posted this in the kindness thread and want to share a thumbs up of Christmas in Angel Falls here, too. I watched the rest of Christmas in Angel Falls a little while ago. I loved it! It had some Touched by an Angel (a show I loved) parts (I wish those were clearer than they were but the idea was there). It tugged extra on me because I so feel my own church needs to get back its own spirit for Christmas and always. I feel called by God to one day be part of that. ETA: I just Googled and it looks like there was a sequel to this movie called Angel Falls a Novel Holiday? Has anyone seen it? Thanks :)

Did anyone watch the Same Time, Next Christmas ABC movie from last year? I just watched it today and the plot is basic but I enjoyed it. It was filmed in Oahu and made me think back to our 2016 Hawaii trip. It was just the mixture of escapism I needed today. I'd watch it again especially as an "in the background" film
